Department Description

We are pleased to announce the vacancy of a Senior Solution Architect - Fintech within the Technology Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Brief Description

Reporting to the Delivery Lead – Fintech, the position holder will facilitate the development of the right future-state architecture and ensures its effective adoption. They provide overall direction, guidance and definition of architecture programs that effectively supports business KPIs in their respective tribe.

They are viewed as an expert and provide knowledge/ counsel to others solution architects and software engineers. They must have significant business knowledge and have one or more areas of technical expertise in software development, solution architecture, enterprise architecture and financial technology.

Responsibilities

Creates comprehensive solution documentation allowing clarity for the software developers.

Can design standardized documentation applicable across the tribes in the cluster

Ensures API best practices are adhered such as reusability, monitoring, performance, security

Designs future fit solutions using standards, templates and frameworks.

Sets baseline through introduction of standards and working practices such as architecture blueprints, coding standards, design principles and tools.

Performs supervisory code reviews for junior and intermediate engineers and ensure they follow the standards.

Seen as a role model in business engagement both inside and outside of the chapter.

Provides technical leadership/mentorship to others within the discipline in review of complex multi-domain requirements.

Collaboratively oversees the development of the solution as per agreed architecture, evolving it throughout the delivery in the face of changing requirements and feedback from the team.

Facilitates design review sessions during the weekly MPESA Technology

Design Authority sittings.

Ensures technical debts are visible to the members of the squad and tribes

Qualifications

Domain experience in financial services, financial technologies is a MUST have.

A “hands-on software architect” capable of sharing software development experience with the rest of the team, which in turn helps them better understand how the architecture is viewed from a development perspective.

Expert-level development in at least 1 language such as Java, Python, NodeJs, GO or.NET.

Mastery of at least one Web Framework and for their language of choice

Deep knowledge and use of fundamental database concepts

Ability to run user requirement workshops and capture complex business requirements across multiple domains.

Certification in Solution Architecture, TOGAF and Certification in Public Clouds will be an added advantage

Strong business acumen and leadership mindset with ability to communicate and influence others.

Has analytical skills to picture an end-to-end solution derived from a design document

Ability to drive initiatives without any formal authority in an ambiguous environment

Ability to mentor/coach developers and other solution architects in architecture principles

Requires exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environment
