Sacco Chief Executive Officer Jobs in Kenya
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in partnership with the Board of Directors (Board) is responsible for the success of the SACCO. In conjunction with the Board and the Senior Management Team (SMT), the CEO is responsible for the delivery of the SACCO’s Vision and Mission.
The Board delegates’ responsibility for management and day-to-day operations to the CEO and the CEO has the authority to carry out these responsibilities, in accordance with the direction and policies established by the Board.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance
Work with the Board to articulate the Board’s role and accountabilities and that of its committees and individual members, and help evaluate performance regularly.
Work with the Chairman of the Board to enable the Board to fulfill its governance functions.
With the Chairman of the Board, focus the Board’s attention on long-range strategic issues.
Manage the Board’s due diligence process to ensure timely attention to core issues.
Leadership.
Lead the SMT and all staff to deliver all planned and agreed Society and individual (SMT) performance targets to ensure that the Society delivers on its annual goals, objectives and all targets.
Strategy Planning and Execution.
Work with the Board to determine the Society’s vision, mission, values, and short- and long term goals.
Work with the Board to monitor and evaluate the SACCO’s relevancy within the common bond, its effectiveness, and its results.
Keep the Board fully informed on the condition of the Society and on all the important factors influencing its performance.
Identify challenges and opportunities and address them; bringing those which are appropriate to the Board and/or its committees; and facilitate discussion and deliberation aimed at problem / issue resolution.
Inform the Board and its committees about market and environment trends, issues, challenges and activities in order to facilitate policy-making.
Recommend policy directions in keeping with legislation.
Talent Management and Development
Ensure development of all SMT members through performance feedback, recommend training where appropriate and coach and mentor individuals for growth.
Management and Administration
Provide general oversight of all the SACCO’s activities, manage the
day-to-day operations, and assure a smoothly functioning and efficient organization.
Ensure organizational stability through the development and implementation of standards and controls, systems and procedures, and regular evaluation.
Ensure a work environment that recruits, retains and supports quality staff.
Recommend staffing and financing to the Board of Directors.
Specify accountabilities for the SMT and evaluate performance regularly.
Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure that the Society complies with all legal and regulatory requirements and continuously monitor compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Financial Management
Work with the Board to formulate and implement financial strategies to support short- and long-term goals.
Promote products and services that are of high levels of quality and that address diverse member needs.
Oversee the fiscal activities of the Society including budgeting, reporting and audit.
Customer Service
Ensure that the ethos of exemplary Customer Service is embedded in the fabric of the organisation through leadership by example.
Qualifications:
A first Degree or its equivalent in Finance, Accounting or related field.
An MBA or its equivalent with CPA (K), ACCA or related qualification.
Previous relevant work experience required.
At least 15 years working experience with at least 7 years working at senior management level.
