Responsibilities: Serve as Acting Chief of Party during any absence of the Chief of Party.
Ensures a high level of communication and close working relationships with USAID.
Provide technical and/or operational guidance and serve as a subject matter expert in assigned area or responsibility
May coordinate and oversee the operation of other project offices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in international development, economics, business, agricultural or rural development and at least 9 years of demonstrated management experience in managing value chain or agri-business projects.
Experience in economic growth, value chain development, or agricultural development programs is required. Experience in dairy or horticulture is preferred.
Knowledge of market facilitation approach is required.
Knowledgeable and experienced with international development contracting policies and procedures, specifically USAID.
Experience working in East Africa is required; Experience in Kenya is preferred.
Familiarity with international development systems, policies, finances and management in developing countries.
Ability to build consensus and demonstrated ability to recruit and develop high performing teams; demonstrated ability to manage international and national staff.
Experience and demonstrated capacity to build and sustain partnerships to achieve development results.
Excellent oral and written skills in English. Fluency in Kiswahili preferred.
Demonstrated ability to be collaborative across projects, flexible and creative.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

Leads planning, oversight and coordination of all project activities and personnel, operational and technical.
Provide leadership and oversight for areas such as Finance, Operations, Reporting, Public Affairs, Fund Management and Human Resources;
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in international development, agronomy, economics, business, or rural development and 12 years of demonstrated senior management experience in managing value chain or agri-business projects.
Demonstrated success using the market facilitation approach in agricultural development projects.
Demonstrated experience designing and leading value chain development activities; experience in horticulture and dairy value chains preferred.
Experience managing large subcontracts or grants under contracts preferred.
Prior experience managing donor-funded programs in East Africa, experience in Kenya preferred.
Written and verbal fluency in English.
Demonstrated ability to be collaborative across projects, flexible and creative.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to build and manage cooperative high-level relationships and motivate subordinates
Knowledgeable and experienced with USAID policies and procedures.
Familiarity with international development systems, policies, finances and management in developing countries.
Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability.

RTI Chief of Party, East Africa Vacancies in Kenya
Responsibilities & Experience
Build innovate partnerships and promote sustainable initiatives;
Build coalitions and networks that can provide synergies and sustainable solutions;
Diplomatically supervise staff and coordinate programs with partners from a broad range of backgrounds and
experiences;
Managing any subcontracts and grants with local partners, ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliverables;
Master’s degree in natural resources management/conservation or related field or, in lieu thereof, five additional years of experience in a related technical area including conservation, tourism, law enforcement, wildlife trafficking and crime;
Ten years of experience in the implementation of large and complex projects relating to natural resources management and/or biodiversity conservation, preferably with some focus on counter wildlife crime;
Five years proven leadership in the management of similar sized international donor support programs with strong, demonstrated skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting;
Five years’ experience working with senior government officials, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders in natural resources management, biodiversity conservation, and/or enforcement of conservation regulations;
East Africa experience – especially with EAC.

RTI Chief of Party, Kenya Livestock Market Systems Development Vacancies in Kenya
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and strategic vision in all aspects of program implementation, development, and management.
Coordinate with program and finance and administration staff to ensure operational systems are in place
Provide leadership and oversight for all project activities, including management of the technical and operations teams;
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in food security or resilience required; Master’s degree preferred;
12 years of overseas experience, including five years in a senior management position;
Prior experience as a Chief of Party or Deputy Chief of Party for a USAID-funded program;
At least 8 years of experience in international agriculture, with proven technical experience in pastoralist livelihoods, livestock development, conflict mitigation, and natural resource management required;
Experience in organizational development, institutional capacity building, and/or agribusiness management and market development preferred;
High level of leadership and technical skills including a demonstrated ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of public and private sector counterparts and other key stakeholders;
Strong understanding of USAID rules and regulations;
Proven experience managing a large, complex program with teams based across multiple regional field offices;
Strong written and oral communication skills in English, including report writing and editing;
Strong management skills, with an excellent understanding of relevant cross-cultural issues;
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem solve with a strong attention to detail and ability to communicate a strategic vision are essential;
Previous experience in Kenya or the Horn of Africa is highly preferable.
