Rift Valley Water Services Board is a Government Parastatal responsible for development of Water infrastructure within its area of jurisdiction, to achieve this mandate the Board wishes to recruit as follows.
The Internal Audit Manager is to head Internal Audit Unit of the Board and answerable to the Chief Executive Officer.
Job Brief
We are looking for an objective Internal Audit Manager to add value and improve our operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
The successful can-didate will possess a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and a sound judgment.
Job Description
Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations:
Development and implementation of audit system and carry out routine and system audit;
Ensuring adherence at all times to all applicable professional standards, organization policies and procedures;
Ensure adequacy of accounting, financial and other operating manuals;
Ensure adequacy and reliability of financial reports and other accounting and expenditure data; Maintain checks and balance in the board transaction;
Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement;
Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings;
Maintain open communication with management and audit and risk management committee;
Conduct follow up audits to monitor management's interventions;
Engage to continuous knowledge development regarding sector's/ boards rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards;
Reviewing and evaluating budgetary performance, financial management, transparency and accountability mechanism and processes in the Board; and
Providing advice and support on the implementation of risk management strategy, policy and framework.
Job Specifications
A bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Business Management or any other related field from a university recognized in Kenya.
Valid professional membership i.e., membership with
Institute of Internal Auditors or ICPAK and be in good professional standing.
A Master's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Business Management or any other related field from a university recognized in Kenya will be an added advantage.
Served for a minimum period of six (6) years as an Internal Auditor in the public service/private sector with at least 3 years in the senior management level or in any other relevant and equivalent position.
Demonstrate good knowledge of planning and organization skills and high attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases will be an added advantage.
Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations. viii. Sound independent judgement.
Attended a senior management course lasting not less than 4 weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
