Job Description

Retrak is a growing faith-based NGO that works with vulnerable children to provide real alternatives to life on the street.

The Senior Clinical Psychologist will be responsible for:

  • Specialist clinical work with children experiencing complex trauma and attachment issues
    Mentoring, training and oversight of all staff engaged in direct child care to build and strengthen the whole team’s ability to provide holistic 24 hour/day psychological care
    Debriefing and clinical supervision of social-workers, counselors and therapist
  • The role will require regular travel to centers in SNNPR, Amhara and in Addis Ababa

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience:

  • Masters in Clinical Psychology or Psychotherapy
  • At least 3 -5 years’ experience working with traumatized, abused and/or exploited children
  • At least 3 years’ experience of clinical supervision
  • At least 3 years’ experience in staff training

    Essential skills:

  • Ability to write accurate, concise and informative reports in a high standard of English
    Skills in participatory training techniques to a range of professional/non-professional staff
  • Able to maintain clinical and staff confidentiality whilst also ensuring child protection issues are professionally managed and escalated as appropriate
  • Strong skills in working within teams, in groups and individually
  • Ability to work within the Christian ethos of Retrak and promote this when required.
