Resource Intermediaries Head of Internal Audit Jobs in Nigeria
Job PurposeTo assist the board of directors in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities for the financial reporting process, the system internal control, the audit process, the risk management framework and the company's process for monitoring compliance with laws and regulations and the code of conduct.
For risks that fall within Internal Audit's universe, to evaluate, advice and report on (a) the processes by which sinificat risks are managed and (b) the adequacy and effectiveness of systems of internal control with emphasis on financial, commercial and IT processes.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement annual strategic audit plans in line with international auditing standards.
Responsibility for risk assessment: to identify business processes that may present a high or medium risk for the company, with emphasis on financial and business controls and efficiency.
Plan and perform financial, operational and compliance audits for all areas.
Assess and appraise business operations in order to provide the Board with an evaluation of internal controls.
Ensure compliance with company established policies, standard operating procedures, as well as the adequacy of internal controls within business and financial processes and operations.
Coordinate, review and approve final audit reports for distribution to senior management.
Continuous review of the Policies and processes database to ensure relevance and alignment with current situation and operations
Performing readiness assessments to identify potential gaps in the company's future ability to report under new accounting standards.
Assessing capabilities in current accounting and information systems to meet the requirements of the new standards and support operating systems and business processes.
Perform post implementation reviews to help ensure enhancements made to processes and technologies will adequately meet expectations of the new standards.
Perform internal control
evaluations over new or updated controls implemented to help ensure compliance with the new standards.
Guide the audit team through training and other competency development initiatives and ensure adequate skill & knowledge capability in the audit function.
Ensure that the company assets are well safeguarded.
Carry out any other responsibility as may be assigned by the Audit Committee and Managing Directors of the companies.
Qualifications
Chartered Accountant with 6 - 8 years post qualification experience with a background in audit and risk.
Good knowledge of business operations.
Good knowledge of IFRS, Nigeria Accounting Standards & audit techniques.
CISA and knowledge of IT audit techniques will be an advantage.
Working knowledge of tax and regulatory environment.
