Our client is a prominent fertilizer and seed company in Zambia who has a strong commitment to sustainability and safety. They are seeking a seasoned Senior Health and Safety Manager to oversee and implement health and safety practices within their organization.

The Senior Health and Safety Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, policies, and procedures within the company. Reporting directly to the Group Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager, this role demands a high level of expertise in health and safety management and a proactive approach to fostering a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement in operations, facilities, and processes.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and deliver health and safety training programs for employees, ensuring understanding and adherence to safety protocols.

Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and other safety-related concerns, identifying root causes and recommending corrective/preventive actions.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, implementing continuous improvements to enhance workplace safety culture.

Serve as a subject matter expert on health and safety matters, providing guidance and

advice to management and employees.

Ensure compliance with relevant local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, keeping abreast of changes and updates in legislation.

Key Skills:

Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.

Proven track record of developing and implementing successful health and safety programs.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and levels within the organization.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with health and safety management software/tools.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Advanced certifications or relevant postgraduate degrees are advantageous.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in health and safety management, preferably within the agricultural, manufacturing, or related industries.
