Our client operates a leading poultry farming enterprise specializing in the production of broiler chickens, and is seeking an experienced and dedicated Broiler Farm Manager/Veterinarian to oversee and manage the health and productivity of their extensive broiler chicken flocks Their operation implements environmentally controlled systems in caged houses, ensuring optimal conditions for broiler growth and welfare.

The Broiler Farm Manager/Veterinarian will play a pivotal role in managing all aspects of the caged broiler system, ensuring the well-being, health, and optimal growth of broiler chickens. This role requires expertise in poultry management, veterinary care, and a deep understanding of environmentally controlled housing systems.

Responsibilities

Broiler Management:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the caged broiler system, including feeding, watering, and environmental controls to maintain ideal conditions for broiler growth

Implement and manage biosecurity protocols to prevent diseases and ensure flock health

Monitor flock performance, growth rates, and feed conversion ratios, making adjustments as necessary to optimize productivity

Conduct regular inspections of caged houses and equipment to ensure proper functioning and maintenance

Veterinary Care:

Provide expert veterinary care and guidance to maintain the health and welfare of broiler chickens

Develop and implement vaccination schedules and disease prevention strategies

Conduct health assessments, diagnose illnesses, and prescribe treatments when necessary

Collaborate with external veterinary professionals and suppliers to ensure access to quality medications and veterinary supplies

Environmental Control and Welfare:

Manage and optimize the environmental conditions within caged houses, including

temperature, ventilation, and lighting, to ensure the comfort and well-being of broilers.

Implement strategies for waste management and environmental sustainability within the farming operation.

Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and industry regulations.

Team Leadership and Training:

Lead and supervise farm staff, providing guidance, training, and support to maintain high standards of performance and animal care.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among the team.

Key Skills:

In-depth knowledge of poultry health, nutrition, and disease management.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Knowledge of environmental control systems and technologies used in poultry farming.

Understanding of animal welfare standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or relevant qualifications in veterinary science.

Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in broiler farming management, specifically in caged broiler systems with environmentally controlled houses.
