General Position Summary

The Systems Accountant will provide support to the Finance Manager in all accounting and non-accounting systems administration and responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

To develop, enhance and implement effective finance and non finance SOPs (Standard Operating Proceedures) for the accounting and other related ERP systems /applications.

To maintain the dimensions database and support in the creation of dimensions for new grants budgets.

To maintain the General Ledger database, Chart of accounts and creation of new General Ledger accounts and subsidiary accounts.

To maintain the General Ledger database, Chart of accounts and creation of new General Ledger accounts and subsidiary accounts.

To ensure system optimization, implement and roll out new/required system functionalities from user departments.

To add, remove and monitor system accessibility, licensing, permissions and activity per users.

To provide support and respond to system inquiries within finance, procurement, stores and other non-finance staff on system use.

To code and upload new and revised budgets for grants as per the reporting and Navision system requirements.

To act as a focal person and coordinate system requirement and management issues between the organization and the Navision system service provider.

To provide required support on trouble shooting of unreconciled system figures.

To train new and existing staff

on system as well as supporting the IT Department on specific financial system configurations as the system requirements

To demonstrate leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead through influence and to utilize talent and experience of the finance assistants and administrators.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

A degree in Bachelors in Business Administration, Finance/ Accounting

Full professional qualification will be an added advantage (CPA or ACCA).

At least 2 years relevant experience in accounting system administration.

Experience in use of Navision accounting software

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong writing and verbal skills

Ability to consistently and innovatively complete multiple tasks in a timely manner

And ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
