To ensure success, Medical Officers should exhibit extensive clinical knowledge and skills to provide personal, family and community orientated comprehensive primary care medical services to individuals and demonstrable experience in a similar managerial role.
An accomplished Medical Officer will be someone who can align their medical expertise with best practices in health administration.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for playing a role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients
Ensuring the highest standards in patient care is maintained.
Evaluates patients and refers them to specialized health care (consultants).
Actively participates in the delivery of quality health care to patients.
Adheres to the professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.
Takes part in Outreach and community health programs.
Participates in research activities and health data collection.
Compiles and submitting periodic reports.
Pro-actively participates in continuing Professional Development Programmes.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Reporting to senior management, as well as liaising between administrative and medical staff.
Ensuring consistent and accurate medical recordkeeping practices.
Typical Background, Experience & Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Master’s Degree a plus.
Registered with the relevant health body i.e. Medical Council, Uganda Allied Health Council, etc.
Minimum of 3 years of work experience in medical support functions, with increasing responsibility and experience within a busy and dynamic business environment
a plus.
Additional education may substitute for some experience; additional experience may substitute for some education.
Staff management experience and abilities that are conducive to a learning environment a plus.
Proficient in MS Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and information management systems.
Personal Skills
Very good planning, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to make sound judgment and good decisions
Strong customer service orientation with very good communication and interpersonal skills
Ethical conduct and ability to maintain confidentiality
Proactive, resourceful, solutions-oriented, and results-oriented
Required/Desired Foreign Language: n/a
Key Working Relationships
Supervisory: n/a Internal: staff External: Patients.
