Job Description
Technician – Drilling Tool Technician
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Technician – Drilling Tool Technician, based in Turkana – Kenya.
Job Description
Prepares Wellhead sections with accessories based on the work program, checks the equipment, ensures equipment is free from defects, and packs it for dispatching to Offshore Rigs.
Prepares bits, subs, crossovers based on the various stages of the work program and Offshore Rig’s requirement list and packs it for dispatching to Offshore Rigs.
Assembles and disassembles Wellhead test plugs, bowl protectors, pumping subs, jetting tools and gate valves for NDT inspection, repair/ replacement of damaged parts and pressure testing prior to storing and sent to the rig.
Clear understanding of service condition and pressure rating for spools, flanges and pumping sub so that the equipment dispatched to Offshore Rig properly matches to the operational requirement.
Ensures that all cargo containers and lifting tackles are having the valid inspection certificates, color codes and meets the requirement of lifting regulation.
Receives direct charge materials, returned equipment, and stores them at the designated area in the workshop.
Prepares tubing and casing returned from offshore rigs, for inspection and restocking and damaged tubular for repairs or scraping.
Carries out Pressure testing and drifting of X-mas tree valves under supervision of Workshop Supervisor or Drilling Project Equipment & Logistic Coordinator.
Redressing and pressure testing of high pressure Wellhead gate valves.
Carries out packaging for shipping urgent equipment to the rig by Helicopter ensuring that package was under the permissible loading limit for the Helicopter flight.
Fully familiar with the safety practices observed for the high-pressure test bay, overhead crane operation area and high-pressure wash area.
Skills & Experience
Completion of High School education and mechanical fitter training.
Fair spoken and written English.
Must possess valid driving license.
Moderate years of experience in Oil field industry dealing with drilling tools, fishing tools, tool maintenance.
This is a contract position.
