Duties and Responsibilities This is the entry and training grade for this cadre.
An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior and more experienced officer.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-
• Receiving, recording, packaging, dispatching analyzing and preserving samples;
• Undertaking analytical and/or diagnostic work on water, sediments and wastewater samples;
• Caring for laboratory animals;
• Performing vaccine, animal products and by-products quality assurance tests;
• Calibrating laboratory equipment;
• Preparing media stains and dyes;
• Maintaining biological cultures; and
• Undertaking disease surveillance activities.
For direct appointment to this grade,
• A candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following discipline:-Laboratory Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Biology, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology in any of the following fields: (Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Biology), Analytical/Applied Chemistry or Medical Laboratory Technology from a university recognized in Kenya.
