Public Service Commission Deputy Director, Environmental Research & Regulations Jobs in Kenya

For Appointment to This Grade, a Candidate Must Have:-

Served for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Assistant Director, Environment Conservation, CSG 7 or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service;

A Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Environmental Law, Environment Planning and Management, Forestry, Agriculture, Aquatic Sciences, and Natural Resource Sciences or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;

A Membership to a relevant professional body (where applicable);

Demonstrated professional competence, managerial and leadership capabilities as reflected in work performance and results; and

Demonstrated a clear understanding of national development polices, goals, legislations, and objectives and ability to integrate them in to the environment conservation functions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-

Coordinating analysis of initiatives and actions that affect environment and natural
resources;

Providing guidance in collaborative research and surveys on Environmental policy issues;

Coordinating partnerships and collaboration to undertake policy reviews and development of policy initiatives;

Coordinating resource mobilization initiates for policy research development and

review;

Ensuring linkages between environment Sector strategies and policies;

Coordinating development of bills and the resultant legislations and Regulations;

Conducting regulatory and other impact assessments for environmental sector;

Providing guidance in the monitoring and review of regulations in the environment
sector;

Liaising with relevant stakeholders to monitor environmental data and statistics and their impact to the environment;

Strengthening linkages and collaborations with National, Regional and international research organizations to inform review of environmental policies, strategies and regulations; and

Guiding on the formulations of environmental research strategies, Programmes, and Action Plans.
