  • The Economic Strengthening Officer is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and implementation of the community based economic strengthening activities under the SDVCA project in his/her respective districts. .

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the day to day implementation of project activities that relate to ES in his/her respective district and ensure the project meets stated goals, expected results and reporting requirements

    • Serve as subject matter expert on ES in his/her respective district

    • Provide technical assistance for the development of strategy and interventions in his/her respective district to reach OVC and their caregivers with ES interventions

    • Provide training and mentorship to community care workers and Family Matters Program Facilitators in his/her respective district on ES

    • Effectively articulate SDVCA economic strengthening approaches to district stakeholder

    • Identify economic strengthening opportunities in the private and public sectors and link vulnerable OVC and their caregivers for promoting employment-readiness, life skills, livelihoods, and entrepreneurship opportunities for vulnerable adolescent girls and their caregivers in his/her respective district

    • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of CQI activities in his/her respective district on ES activities

    • Facilitate problem solving and action planning among district level SDVCA partners and Government stakeholders to address critical challenges and barriers to improving ES interventions

    • Contribute to operational research and learning agendas related to ES in his/her respective district and support the analysis, interpretation, and use of data to inform decision-making and programmatic adjustments

    • Represent the Project HOPE Zambia SDVCA, as directed, in any district level working group, committee, or task force addressing ES

    • Provide technical assistance during the preparation
    of ES component of Project HOPE Zambia SDVCA annual and quarterly workplans in his/her respective district

    • Prepare district level quarterly and annual reports as required, detailing the performance of the ES intervention, including reports and others as directed

    • Support M & E team on ES related proper data collection, data entry, data analysis and presentation

    • Perform any other ES duties as required

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Diploma in business administration, economics, finance, or another relevant discipline from an accredited university, with preference for candidates possessing a bachelor’s:

    • At least 5 years of program management and/or technical experience on economic strengthening activities

    • Experience in mentoring and supervision of HIV prevention, care and support including ES or OVC programs is required

    • Experience working with NGO, CSO’s and donor agencies having a program component on economic strengthening

    • Experience working with PEPFAR and U.S. Government operations, rules, regulations, procedures, policies, and programs (preferred)

    • Experience on economic strengthening program in HIV prevention, OVC and/or care and support programs

    • Excellent understanding of varying components of economic strengthening especially with VSL

    • Facilitation skills using participatory methodologies

    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and able to learn other applications quickly

    • Must have the ability to obtain, analyze, synthesize, and disseminate data and present findings in both oral and written form

    • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills

    • Excellent communication skills in English

    • Must be able to prepare precise and accurate reports and to develop and present briefings
