Job Description
Our client is a mid-tier bank in Kenya that provides banking services to corporate, SMEs, investment groups as well as individuals.
They are looking for Projects Assistants to offer professional support to the Regional Project Manager.
The job holder will ensure that the Banks projects are aligned to the overall strategy of the Group and that they are delivered successfully within allocated budgets (both in timelines and resources) and that each project is well justified and viable before implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in production of System Requirement Specification or change request specification document in consultation and agreement with the subsidiaries
Assist the Project Manager in the overall project implementation in line with the Group strategies.
Audit, Risk & Compliance-100% adherence to policies, procedures and statutory guidelines. Confirm that corrective and preventative actions identified by audit, risk and compliance reviews; investigations or other assessment mechanisms are undertaken within the agreed time frame.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and records.
Ensure that all projects/business initiatives/programs are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
Prepare reports and presentations to Management, to provide project status and visibility for other, business initiatives, programs and highlight key milestones, achievements.
Use appropriate software applications to develop detailed project plan to track progress for all project, Business initiative, program or products.
Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
Requirements
A general knowledge of the Bank’s operating systems, Controls and General Banking.
Ability to work accurately and dependably. Good planning, organisation skills and multi-tasking skills.
Added advantage of understanding
Java, PHP & PMP certificate
An ability to consistently apply logic i.e. considers all facts, options and outcomes prior to making decisions.
Decisive with ability to make sound and rational decisions.
Experience in General Banking.
Has a Sound Recall of processes and procedures and can apply previous experience to facilitate the resolution of problems identified.
Intuitive, assertive, resilient and attentive to detail.
Knowledge of and experience in writing scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, Unix/Linux
Knowledge of database management systems technologies especially Oracle Relational Database Management System
Projects Management knowledge
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office.
Understanding of French language will be an added advantage
University Degree preferably in the fields of Computer Science or a Business Course
