Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to oversee and coordinate sponsorship activities and ensure they are compliant to organizational policies & guidelines.
Dimensions of the Role
The role is responsible for building effective & meaningful working relationships that benefit children with multiple stakeholders in the sponsorship program.
Accountabilities
Monitor and support Community Based Organizations (CBOs) sub-granted to undertake sponsorship activities.
Production of timely and quality sponsorship communications.
Capacity build CBOs and community volunteers on sponsorship processes towards enhancing compliance to global guidelines.
Build and strengthen working relations with local structures (local administration, schools among others) and ensure they are adequately consulted/informed of Plan’s operations.
Mobilize and sensitize sponsored families to ensure their active participation in sponsorship and program activities.
Undertake regular monitoring of sponsored families through scheduled home visits.
Ensure appropriate consultation, participation and feedback to the community in relation to Plan programs and policies.
Promote children rights in sponsorship and ensure that Plan’s Child Protection Policy and Principles are adhered to by all associates.
Regular monitoring, reporting and documentation on sponsorship processes in the field.
Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
Key relationships
The Sponsorship Officer reports to the Sponsorship Coordinator in the Program Unit. S/he relates on daily basis with children, sponsored families, parents, communities and other structures that support sponsorship/development processes. On regular basis, the role also relates with sponsors who visit the sponsored families.
The position also has a good working relationship with Sponsorship Data Entry clerks to ensure work submitted is processed in the system.
S/he also has a close working relationships with project staff towards ensuring that sponsored families are involved in project activities.
Technical expertise, skills and knowledge
ducational Qualification and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in
Social Sciences or Community Development.
At least 3 years’ experience working with communities in sponsorship communications.
Experience working with community based organisations.
One-year experience of motorcycle riding.
Basic computer literacy.

Physical Environment
Typical office environment with 80 - 85% frequent visits in field monitoring and working with the communities.
Level of contact with children
High level: Frequent interaction with children .
