Responsibilities
Programme Leadership
Take a lead in aligning programs to the Global Strategy and Theory of Change.
High-level representational role with the government, donors, partners and other stakeholders.
Lead in innovative programme design, planning, follow-up, evaluation, quality strengthening and reporting.
Program Quality
Work closely with thematic specialists to support the development of rights-based programs and projects, to strengthen program innovation and learning, and to spearhead advocacy and campaigning initiatives on child rights and girl’s rights.
Take a lead in establishing systems for program monitoring, quality improvement, accountability, evaluation and knowledge management.
Qualifications
You will require demonstrable experience in managing multi and bilateral donor funded grants/contracts and other fund sources in a senior management role.
Experience working for INGOs or similar in increasingly senior positions (Programme Director level strongly preferred), ideally with a working knowledge of Kenya.
Previous management of programme portfolios in excess of USD10 million annually with multiple partners (including government and civil society).
Experience in managing complex and multi-thematic programs, especially in areas of child rights, education, health and child protection.
Knowledge of development challenges and contexts in Kenya, in particular in child rights, girl’s rights and child protection.
Familiarity with various donor guidelines and requirements.

Plan International NGO Child Protection in Emergencies Specialist Job Vacancies in Kenya
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for assessing the knowledge, understanding and capacity of Concern Worldwide and its partners to mainstream child protection into their overall programming, and based on this assessment; provide training to Concern and their partners’ management and field staff.
You will need to travel into Somalia to conduct the training, and as a result, must have completed HEAT training before travel.
You will need to ensure that Concern and partners’ staff have a clear understanding of key child protection issues with an emergency context, how they can effectively address them in the short term, and how communities can be supported to proactively address child protection issues in the longer term.
The Specialist will need to take an active role in linking Plan and Concern with technical co-ordination groups and contribute to advocacy within the country specific child protection coordination group and other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector
Qualifications
University degree in social work, a social science or another related field.
At least 7 years’ experience implementing CP projects and providing technical advice. Demonstrable experience in conducting child protection assessments in emergency contexts and technical expertise in implementing community-based child protection responses.
Demonstrable ability to network and liaise with major child protection actors.
As well as experience mainstreaming Child Protection in
project design and implementation, and developing participatory monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, Sphere and the Red Cross/ NGO Code of Conduct.

Plan International NGO Project Officer Job Vacancies in Kenya
Responsibilities
Girls’ Advocacy Alliance
Ensure that the project makes full consideration of the local child protection context including main protection risks for children as well as legal and social wellbeing provision and this informs all stages of the project cycle.
Ensure that identification, analysis and management of child protection policy related risks are included in the regular project risk management processes at all stages of the project cycle.
Ensure community participation processes in the project, including consultations with children, include specific discussion of protection risk issues from their perspective and possible mitigating actions and strategies that could be incorporated into project design.
Project Implementation
Ensure that the monthly activities and budget plans are implemented as per approved breakdown and all partner activities are on track.
Ensure all project related partner, government and other stakeholder relations are well maintained.
Ensure participation in County and Sub County level partnerships with NGOs and other actors working on GBV and Economic Empowerment to influence Policies.
Documentation and Reporting
Consolidate/write project reports in line with donor requirements and Plan standards and as requested by the Project Manager.
Contribute to documentation and sharing of best practices with all stakeholders in child protection.
Facilitate and coordinate joint reflection meetings/reflection sessions at County level (among partners).
Partnership management
Work closely with project partners/sub grantees to ensure implementation of work plans and act as accounting officers to the project.
Dealing with Problems
Managing community conflicts.
Managing community/Plan Policy conflicts.
Maintain good working relationships with other Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
Negotiating with the respective government departments to ensure that work goes on.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Development Studies.
At least 3 years’ experience in project management/coordination.
Strong knowledge of community development.
Conversant with Adolescent Girls’ Advocacy and Economic Empowerment.
Experience in grants management, proposal development and resource mobilization.
Experience with Sexual and Gender Based Violence projects, partnership building, networking/and collaboration with GOK, county governments and other actors including the private sector are a critical requirement.
Knowledge of urban development issues.
Knowledge & experience with Youth and Children with Disabilities projects will be an added advantage.
Hold personal values, ethics and attitudes which are in alignment with the principles of the Plan’s Child Protection Policy.
