Plan International Ethiopia is looking for Education Coordinator for RDPP Project who will be reporting to the Program Area Manager.
Dimensions of Role:The Education Coordinator will report to the Program Area Manager of Plan International Ethiopia. The post holder directly supervises the community facilitators at the Program Area (PA) Office.
The post holder oversees the overall education component of different projects and collaboratively work with program area Livelihood, Child protection and Health coordinators, and other admin staffs.
She/he has the responsibility of working with the regional and local government Education, Social Welfare, Finance, Administration of Refugee and Returnee Agency (ARRA), Women Children Youth Affairs, Micro and Small Enterprises, and Technical and Vocational Education training colleges.
Accountabilities:
Provide strategic guidance to education components of assigned Projects under Addis Abeba Area program
Serve as budget holder for assigned education projects, oversee and support the budgeting (submission of budget revisions), expenditure tracking and all aspects of financial management of the programme including.
Ensure proper implementation of the assigned project implementation as per the agreed work plan.
Facilitate signing of agreement with Regional Government and Implementing Partners.
Provide technical and administrative support for partners to ensure smooth implementation of project activities and utilization of budget.
Provide technical support to Education Bureaus and Schools as necessary to provide quality education for refugee children at all levels
Collaborate and coordinate with other education and refugee stakeholders to ensure continued PIE presence and effectiveness of programming, relevant stakeholders include the Administration for Refugees and Returnees (ARRA), UNHCR)
Manage staff under his/her supervision
Work closely with other sectors to explore greater linkages between Child Protection, and other migration program.
Prepare and submit quality monthly, quarterly and annual reports to donor and government counter part
Support Educational and vocational implementation strategies to ensure that there is standard and acceptable program implementation in the refugee.
Provide capacity building training for targeted community and partner staff
Prepare concept notes and proposals to secure additional funding for the Program Area.
And other administrative assignments assigned by the Program Manager (i.e serving the program area as Procurement Committee, inventory committee etc)
Job Requirements
Technical expertise, skills and knowledge
Essential
Masters or
First degree in education and related fields (Curriculum Studies, Educational Psychology, Educational Planning and Management, social work, sociology, and other related fields of studies)
Minimum five years relevant field experience in refugee setting experience is preferable
Technical experience and knowledge in the area of refugee and girls’ education and interventions required including leading response plan, implementation and monitoring.
Experience working with local NGOs and partners in the implementation of programmes and support in institutional development.
Experience in budget management.
Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Empathy with PIE vision, mission, goal and objectives and commitment to capacity building, protection and participation.
Desirable
Understanding of education issues and knowledgeable about strategies and program design to address needs in Urban refugee Context
Knowledge of the new refugee legislation
Strong writing and editing skills, including experience developing proposals and other resource materials
Good knowledge of Monitoring, Evaluation Accountability and Learning
Assist in building good relations with national authorities, international organizations, donor governments and other organizations
Demonstrated ability to work with a large team of national staff at different levels
Strong documentation and information management skills
Good analytical, facilitation, communication and presentation skills
Resourcefulness, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize work under pressure
Good in written and spoken English. Local language Speaking
