BackgroundThe Pharmaceutical society of Uganda is the professional body of Pharmacists in the country established by the Pharmacy and drugs act, cap 280 of the laws of Uganda.
Its governing body is the council of the Pharmaceutical society of Uganda, mandated to secure the highest practicable standards in the practice of Pharmacy.
It is the duty of the council to oversee the training of pharmacy students, internship and the practice of pharmacy to ensure preset ethical and professional standards are maintained and upheld.
The councils vision is to be the leader in ensuring professional excellence and securing the highest practice standards in the practice of pharmacy under three them areas: Enhancing professional growth and development strengthening governance and improving resource mobilization and utilization.
Position summary
Working closely with the Secretary to ensure timely and relevant monthly reports to the council as well as council papers for council meetings The Administrator portion is accountable for the administrative, financial and risk management operations of the society to the development of an operational strategy metrics tied to that strategy and the ongoing monitoring and development of control systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning
Assist in formulating the society's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic plans and development and implantation of annual council work plans.
Develop financial strategies for the overall sustainability of the society,
Manage the budgeting processes and implementation
Develop performance and evaluation measures that support the society strategic direction.
Operations
Manage the human resource, finance, accounting and administrative functions
Implement operational best practices • Ensuring proper use and accountability for Council resources.
Overseeing the effective implementation of all lawful decisions of the Council and Government
Providing direction and guidance to the Councils and committees on the application of the relevant laws and policies.
Supervising, monitoring and coordinating the activities.
Management and delivery of Council services. Maintain documents and records of the Council. Acting as liaison Officer between the Council, Government and private sector.
Co-ordinating and ensuring monitoring and inspection of Council activities and ensuring that the data/information bank is established and updated on timely basis.
Preparing and submitting progress reports on quarterly basis on council programmes, projects and other activities to members and stakeholder. Responsible for mediating and co-ordinating conflicts and dispute resolutions within the society Ensuring timely implementation of stall performance appraisal.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Financial processes
Oversee the issuance of financial information
Co-ordinate audit activities and Compilation of financial results
Develop
and execute financial targets.
Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
Develop and implement funding mechanisms for council plans
Knowledge ,critical Skills and qualification
Administrator should be a Ugandan holding a Bachelor's Degree in Business administration , Arts ,Social Science Development Studies ,Management or Commerce from a recognized University/Institution. Possession of a post graduate qualification and Masters Degree in any of the above disciplines she be an added advantage.
A minimum of five or more years relevant working experience from a reputable organization. A high level of written and oral communication skills Excellent computer skills in MS word, power point and excel.
