Job Description

The Bursar is a principal officer by statute and the Chief Financial Officer of the university.

He/She is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the university.

He/She coordinates the financial operations of the university, establishes appropriate internal control system, advises the Vice-Chancellor on financial matters of the university; prepares periodic/annual financial reports of the university, develops and installs efficient accounting system; interprets financial regulations, performs other related duties that may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor/Governing Council.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidate must possess a good honours Degree in relevant areas and must be a member of a recognized Professional Accounting body with at least fifteen (15) years of cognate experience, and must not be lower than the rank of Principal Accountant.

He/She should demonstrate versatility in management of university resources shall be a person of proven integrity, shall be intellectually and professionally sound and knowledgeable in financial rules and regulations of the university system.

He/She must be vast in the knowledge of public service rules, financial regulations, and must be proficient in the use of computer.

Tenure

The Bursar shall hold office

for a single tenure of five (5) years or may be appointed on acting capacity.
