We are part of Alliance 2015, a strategic network of seven European non-governmental organizations engaged in humanitarian aid and development projects. This collaboration increases effectiveness, both in working in the target countries and in campaigns aimed at influencing the attitudes of politicians and the general public in Europe.
In our over 16 years operation in Ethiopia, has focused on projects in five main areas of interest: Education and Social protection, Environment, Livelihood and Agriculture, Water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Emergency programs.
PIN currently invites Internal and External applicants for the position of: Site Supervisor for the two different specific projects entitled
Multisectoral life-saving response to the acute needs of the most vulnerable IDPs and returnees in Guji and West Guji zones, Oromia, Ethiopia
Main Responsibilities of the position
Site Supervisor involves planning, daily supervising and monitoring the construction of Civil and water infrastructure related works in the project.
The site supervisor directs and manages all on-site construction workers, Skilled and Unskilled laborers, subcontractors, and equipment, enforcing the supplier’s direction, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines.
In addition, He/ She must diligently plan, organize, and manage work to reach goals and employ the best strategies for achieving desired results. Site supervisors always follow through on commitments, take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work, and achieve results with little oversight.
Responsible to provide technical guidance to the field-based contractors delegates based on to PIN Engineer direction on Building construction activities. He or she shall
be conducting daily communicating and reporting to the Respective Engineer and apply the advice on the construction sites follow up of construction materials and stock, follow up of materials delivery to site and record daily construction diary.
Ensure the construction is Adhering the technical construction standard and keep the proper construction techniques and approaches.
Site supervisor works under direct supervision of a WASH and Infrastructure Engineer with close cooperation of the Project Team, HR, Financial, Logistic, M and E, Safeguarding, Engineering departments
Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, equipment and utilize corrective actions.
Ensure appropriate quality construction materials are being used to the Engineering standard
Identify and execute best practices concerning the efficient use of construction materials and Technics.
Plan work in an efficient and effective order, maximizing progress in a safe and timely manner.
Responsible for day-to-day monitoring and supervision of all construction or rehabilitation project activities to ensure high technical quality and timeliness of implementation.
Prepare materials amount needed per each site and follow up of stock material availability and balance
Assure proper installation of hand pumps, submersible pump and Generators in collaboration with PIN and government staffs
Daily updating work progress report to WASH and Infrastructure Engineer
Collect GPS locations for construction sites under the direction of WASH and Infrastructure Engineer
Monitor and report ahead of time on the construction materials quality and balance for the WASH and Infrastructure Engineer
Participate in the procurement of local construction materials and assuring their quality and quantity
Scheduling work items with the WASH and Infrastructure Engineer and monitoring during implementation
Alignment of pipe line route and setting out of water schemes and other structures
Participate in further assessment and detail data collection
Performs related work as assigned by the WaSH and Infrastructure Engineer
Job Requirements
Minimum BSc in Civil Engineering, Water engineering, Water supply and Sanitation Engineering and other related fields of studies;
Minimum 2 (Two) years of experience in emergency sector.
Emergency Project work experience, Experience in construction & rehabilitation of boreholes, water scheme, latrines & rainwater harvesting.
Knowledge about core humanitarian standards
Experience and working relationship with partners, local government and communities etc.
work experience in the INGO environment is advantageous
Good command of MS Package (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
Knowledge of spoken & written Amharic, English and spoken local language Oromifa is advantageous
