Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) is a Japanese Non-Governmental Organization established in 1996. PWJ has been providing humanitarian and development assistance for people affected by forced displacement and natural disasters in more than 20 countries in the world. PWJ launched its mission in Kenya in 2012 and have been implementing projects funded by UN agencies and the government of Japan in shelter, WASH and youth development to improve living environments of refuge and host populations while promoting peaceful coexistence and self-reliance in the communities in Dadaab, Kakuma and Kalobeyei.
Particularly in Kalobeyei settlement, PWJ has been vigorously engaged in promoting sustainable solutions for protracted refugee situations through its shelter and sanitation projects upon launching of Kalobeyei Integrated Socio Economic Development Programme in 2018.
The PM will provide leadership and management in development and implementation of the PWJ’ Kakuma and Kalobeyei operation based on humanitarian and development nexus programming in line with Global Compact for Refugees (GCR), particularly in infrastructure, WASH and livelihoods sectors.
The PM will ensure effective systems, processes and internal and external relationships are in place that support high-quality programming advancing PWJ’s work to create sustainable impact on the lives of people affected by forced displacement in operational areas. .
Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage ongoing and up-coming projects in close cooperation with staffs and partners.
Monitor and evaluate implementation of projects to ensure that sustainable impact is achieved and interventions are compliant with the organization, donor policies & guidelines.
Develop and maintain good relations with the government (national and county), donors and other partners.
Ensure prudent and accountable use of financial resources.
Prepare donor and internal reports, review evaluation reports and other reports while ensuring timeliness
and quality standards are adhered to.
Build knowledge and technical capacity of staff through training, mentoring, coaching to deliver and monitor high quality interventions.
Identify, create and capitalize on funding opportunities for further growth of the Kakuma/Kalobeyei mission by developing strong relationships with existing and potential donors and taking a lead role in proposal development.
Requirements
Master's Degree in International Development, International Relations or in a similar field is required. Additional experience may substitute for some education.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in relevant field-based project management experience required, with preferably at least 2-3 years working in the area of development or humanitarian response.
Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and proposals.
Experience engaging and coordinating with partner organizations
Monitoring and Evaluation experience required.
Staff management experience and abilities that are conducive to a learning environment.
Experience using MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
