Program OverviewHer Future, Her Choice is a four-year GAC (Global Affairs Canada) funded and Oxfam Canada led SRH Multi-country project to be implemented in Ethiopia, Malawi and Zambia aimed at creating access to comprehensive SRH information and services for Adolescent and youth in a gender responsive and youth-friendly manner.
In Ethiopia, the project will be implemented by Pathfinder International and Women Support Association in two woredas of Amhara region (Seqota and Seqota Zuria).
Position PurposeUnder the guidance and close supervision of RMNCAH Coordinator and with technical support of the AYHD senior advisor, the AYSRH Program officer is principally responsible for the implementation of all SRH related activities of adolescent and youth in a gender responsive and youth-friendly manner.
S/he is the focal person for Adolescent and youth-focused SRH program and engages in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program.
Key Responsibilities Assists the RMNCAH Coordinator in the development of annual plans and budgets that will lead to appropriate implementation of Her Future Her Choice project in target woredas of Amhara region
Ensures that partners get the required material and technical assistance and training support as per
plan and ensure that any outstanding issues are dealt with swiftly and effectively following the identification of bottlenecks.
Actively participates in AYSRH program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
Organizes conducts and assists SRH and gender-related training
Provides monitoring and technical support to Implementing Partners, travels to target sites to provide on job technical support and to enhance skill transfer.
Works closely with the intra-organizational projects and programs as s/he travels to the project sites in the regions to provide or organize the implementation of planned AYSRH activities.
Participate actively in carrying out potential research and generate evidence that can improve the quality of SRH services to adolescent and youth in the target areas.
Develops quality and timely reports and submits to immediate supervisor.
Attends and contributes to the Zonal and woreda level task forces and technical working group meetings on SRH and gender-related issues.
Job Requirements
MPH OR Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or related fields.
Minimum of five years of experience in AYSRH and AYHD activities.
Experience in practical fieldwork and experience in NGO will be an advantage.
Must have strong writing and communication skills both in English and Amharic
Skills and experience in computer applications and utilization is mandatory.
Must be able to work with minimum supervision and have strong interpersonal skills and skills to promote teamwork.
Must demonstrate strong interest and commitment to family planning and maternal and child health services and the eradication of harmful traditional practices.
Must have demonstrable personal integrity and honesty and must have a pleasant personality.
Must be willing to travel frequently to project activity regions and woredas as per need.
