Job DescriptionPATH is currently recruiting for a Regional Lead, Access to Medical Devices, to support expanding work across the Market Dynamics team’s Access to Medical Devices Portfolio.
This portfolio encompasses multiple projects related to medical devices, including PATH’s COVID-19 respiratory care equipment efforts.
The Regional Lead will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, and will represent the Access to Medical Devices Portfolio across East and Southern Africa.
This includes providing regional leadership on existing projects – both internal project and staff management and external stakeholder engagement, leading business development initiatives within the region, serving as a spokesperson for the portfolio, and participating on a portfolio and program leadership teams.
Regional Leadership Support Access to Medical Devices Portfolio projects by providing technical input, regional and country leadership, project execution and coordination, and staff management.
Foster relationships with MOHs, multilateral organizations, and donors at both country and regional levels.
Represent the portfolio at relevant events regionally, including industry and association conferences, government-sponsored events, and global health nonprofit and donor meetings.
Strategy and Business Development
Co-develop 2022-2025 portfolio strategy, including future product and disease-specific work and with particular attention to regional priorities for East and Southern Africa.
Lead business development efforts regionally, cultivating relationships with key donors and collaborating with PATH staff and leaders throughout East and Southern Africa and globally.
Actively participate in Access to Medical Devices Portfolio leadership team by providing regular updates on regional activities to the global team and translating global priorities for regional projects and regionally situated portfolio team members.
Communications
Serve as key spokesperson for the portfolio by representing project achievements and insights in regional and global media.
Contribute to and/or lead authorship of thought pieces on medical devices in concert with Market Dynamics team strategy and advocacy and communications staff.
Required Experience
Master's Degree in Public Policy, Economics, Public Health, or equivalent advanced degree plus a minimum of ten years in market analysis, healthcare management consulting or other relevant private and public sector experience.
Experience expanding access to medical devices and a strong technical understanding of the barriers that can inhibit uptake among health care providers and
patients.
Experience working with public and/or private-sector health systems as an implementer, researcher, policy professional or commercially, especially in emerging market settings.
Demonstrated experience leading and managing cross-cultural project teams.
Strong understanding of multilateral health agencies (e.g., WHO, Global Fund) and country-level systems for managing health product supply (e.g., budgeting, procurement).
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain close and effective relationships with partnering organizations at local, national, and international levels.
Strong project planning and management skills, including balancing multiple projects and priorities across time zones and geographies.
Proven effectiveness working in a team-based environment, but capable of also working independently and taking initiative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to approximately 20% of the time.
Travel will be contingent on prevailing pandemic restrictions and with consideration for staff safety.
