PATH is currently recruiting for a Finance Officer, to be based in Kampala, Uganda to assist in the administration of the financial/business functions of a unit, uses a variety of computer software and systems to perform duties, performs tasks with work priorities and general instructions provided by the supervisor, exercise judgment in selecting and applying established procedures correctly and in determining when to refer problems to the supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Processes and/or oversees the processing of financial/business forms.
Perform routine calculations to produce analyses and reports as requested by the supervisor
Creates, send, and follow up on invoices
Review and adhere to department budget
Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets
Adhere to the company’s
or organization’s financial policies and procedures
Attend finance department and company-wide meetings.
Answer questions and provide assistance to stakeholders, customers, and clients as needed
Report any troubling discoveries or suspicion of wrongdoing to the proper authorities
Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with employees and/or clients
Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions
Maintains proper filing of finance documents, cancels “PAID” on paid vouchers
Compiles RATs and TERs submitted to finance office for payment and retirement respectively
Scanning of vouchers, reports and other documents for onward upload to PATH working space
Reviewing and uploading mobile money wallets
Supports the finance & Grants officer in following and tracking outstanding project staff advances
Supports in ensuring completeness of documentation
Bank reconciliations
Supports in following up receipts from service providers for VAT reports that are submitted to USAID on quarterly basis
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Experience Required Skills:
Holder of a bachelor’s degree of commerce or business administration in accounting.
At least two to three years of related financial/office experience required.
Computer competency requiring word-processing, spreadsheet and database software knowledge and experience.
