Job Description PATH is a global organization that works to accelerate health equity by bringing together public institutions, businesses, social enterprises, and investors to solve the world’s most pressing health challenges. With expertise in science, health, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales solutions—including vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostics, and innovative approaches to strengthening health systems worldwide.
The DMPA-SC Access Collaborative is a global initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation and led by PATH in collaboration with John Snow, Inc. (JSI).
The Communications Officer will amplify project work and learnings through multiple global channels. The Communications Officer will report to the PATH DMPA-SC Access Collaborative Project Director, based in the United States, work with a global project Learning, Exchange, and Dissemination team, and be part of a regional PATH office based in Nairobi.
Responsibilities
Serve as a key contributor to the project’s global Learning, Exchange, and Dissemination workstream, including helping to set and deliver on strategy and workplan.
Identify and support opportunities to amplify project work through the project’s virtual Learning and Action Network, social and online media, and partner platforms reaching Anglophone FP2020 countries who are working on self-injection scale-up, with particular emphasis in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Nigeria.
Contribute to the refinement and implementation of the communications strategy.
Provide input and help execute the project editorial calendar. Proactively identify opportunities, priority events, and platforms to reach target audiences and stakeholders.
Support the launch of a PATH Sexual and Reproductive Health Twitter account, develop a social media plan aligned with the project communication strategy and editorial calendar, and provide strategic guidance in growing and maintaining audience engagement.
Develop regular content and lead writing from concept to completion to contribute to Access Collaborative and partner global channels including blogs, social media, newsletters, web content, external reports, technical briefs, and presentations.
Provide support to the online DMPA-SC Resource Library by managing and uploading
resources.
Provide graphic design support to public project documents including slide decks, infographics, data visualizations, conceptual frameworks, tables, etc.
Represent project in regional and global convenings (e.g., conferences, workshops).
Support planning and execution of external workshops and webinars through virtual platforms, as well as in-person events. Provide back end technical support through Zoom and other virtual platforms.
Support responses to media inquiries in collaboration with the media team and project team.
Serve as writer, editor, and proofreader.
Required Experience
Master’s degree in public health, health communications, public policy, marketing, advertising, creative writing, graphic design or other related discipline.
Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience, including expertise in developing and implementing communications strategies, especially in the development sector.
Exceptional written communication and technical writing skills, including experience as lead author on technical reports. Advanced editing skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate highly technical information to a wide range of audiences.
Experience developing and implementing social media strategies, especially Twitter.
Ability to create compelling and actionable visuals for diverse audiences (using programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Tableau).
Strong ability to use Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Zoom
Knowledge of global health and the family planning sector.
Effective oral presentation and group facilitation skills.
Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Demonstrated ability to work across global teams, programs, departments, and time zones.
French language proficiency .
