PATH has been working in South Africa for more than a decade, focused on improving health for women and children and helping those most affected by HIV and AIDS.
An important new initiative is Digital Square South Africa. Managed under the global Digital Square mechanism, this initiative seeks to improve health sector performance through strengthening health information systems and data use.
PATH is currently seeking to recruit an Assistant Program Officer who will provide day-to-day administrative and logistical support for the TB/HIV Information Systems (THIS) National Implementation Team (NIT) and the PATH M&E/HIS team.
The position will be based at the NDOH office in central Pretoria. The Assistant Program Officer will be expected to travel to a limited extent (approximately 10-20% of time).
Responsibilities:
Provide overall support for management and program administration of the HSS team
Assist and coordinate all relevant meetings, workshops, trainings, and conferences, where necessary
Minute taking of all relevant meetings
Coordinate all relevant program logistics
Assist with timely submission of all program reports, documents and program publications, as necessary
Conduct data entry exercises, as required
Participate in meetings and strategic planning workshops, where required
Provide other administrative duties in line with the grade of this post, as required
All tasks must be done in
accordance with relevant rules and regulations, including those of the NDoH, HSS, and/or the donor agency.
Required Experience
A minimum of a National Diploma
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in an administrative and/or logistical support role
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook), internet and Skype
Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Attention to detail, string commitment to excellence
Fast learner
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Able to multi-task
Able to work independently, set priorities, and manage time effectively
Able to efficiently communicate and collaborate with physically dispersed managers and team members
Approachable, able to build and maintain effective relationships with the team, colleagues, NDOH, and external partners

Previous work experience in donor-funded and/or South African public health sector settings
Experience working within demanding work plans and tight budgets
Ability to function well in a multi-disciplinary team
Experience in project management, procurement, and/or public health
Must have legal authorization to work in South Africa
