Oxfam Women's Empowerment and Care Project Manager Jobs in Kenya

Oxfam is a recognised leader on Women’s Economic Empowerment, and on effectively addressing issues of unpaid care and domestic work, as a driver of achieving women’s economic empowerment.

Oxfam works in partnerships with women’s rights organisations, youth and community-based
groups, national NGOs, governmental and private sector actors.

Oxfam has developed cutting-edge
monitoring and evaluation research on unpaid care and women’s economic empowerment. Oxfam
has long affirmed that women’s empowerment is holistic, that sustainable change on women’s
economic empowerment depends on parallel progress in women’s social and political
empowerment.

This role will coordinate a high-profile and ground-breaking programme addressing unpaid care and domestic work in two countries and internationally, together with a global corporate partner and a range of women’s rights organisations and national NGOs.

This post provides an exciting and unique
opportunity for an exceptional Project Manager to lead and deliver a substantial programme of
Oxfam’s Women’s Economic Empowerment strategy.

Responsibilities

  • The Project Manager will ensure effective and timely delivery and supporting good communication amongst project stakeholders.
  • This is a high-profile project with an extensive globally-located and matrix managed team, and rigorous monitoring by the donor.
  • The post-holder will ensure the
maintenance of project management systems that ensure delivery and quality reporting.
  • An important part of this will be the motivation and management of local project managers and the maintenance of productive relationships with partners.
  • Some project implementation teams will be responsible for ensuring effective delivery by local partners of ‘hardware’ components (water and laundry facilities) and for catalysing support from local governments for programme interventions.
  • Other teams will be carrying out policy advocacy, social norms communications, influencing and research with multi-stakeholder alliances

    Qualifications

  • We are looking for an exceptional Project Manager who is motivated by the fight to improve women’s rights and challenge power structures that
    enable social injustice and inequality.
  • This post requires an experienced Project Manager who can coordinate a complex multi-country project across two countries, with cross-country influencing and communications components.
  • The Project Manager will have sound financial skills and significant budget management experience.
  • She/he will also be inspired by multi stakeholder processes, and motivated to ensure that project staff are combining diverse components to achieve impact: women’s rights organisations, researchers, government actors, companies, media organisations, and contractors delivering WASH hardware.
  • It requires someone with sensitivity to women’s rights issues to represent the programme when needed, including links between women’s empowerment, unpaid care work, social norms, public services and water infrastructure.
  • He/she will value and excel at managing staff based at a distance, and will produce timely, high-quality reports for a corporate donor.
  • Outstanding project management and leadership skills and experience, preferably in a complex environment in developing countries
  • Demonstrable knowledge/experience of the full project management cycle:
  • Excellent project financial management skills
  • Excellent people skills, with proven ability to motivate others and work collaboratively including supporting team members from a distance, requiring strong self-awareness and inter-personal skills.
  • Good experience in donor reporting, preferably including corporate partnerships
