The Organisation of Educational Cooperation (OEC) is an international intergovernmental organisation, founded in January 2020 by countries from across the Global South, to “contribute to the equitable, just, and prosperous social transformation of societies by promoting balanced and inclusive education, in order to attain the fundamental rights to liberty, justice, dignity, sustainability, social cohesion, and material and immaterial security for the peoples of the world”.

The main functions of the Department of SEED are, accordingly, to:

Provide Technical support, from a systematic perspective, in order to build balanced and inclusive educational systems

Provide technical support and institutional capacity building in the areas of systemic governance, curricula, teacher training and assessments

Host and administer the OEC Institute for Training

Role Summary

Under the overall authority of the Secretary General and the direct supervision of the Under Secretary-General, the Chief of Section, Curriculum Transformation, Pedagogy and Assessment will be responsible for working with member states in area of transformation of curriculum , pedagogy & assessment based on the vision of BIE expressed in Global Guide and Universal Declaration.

Duties:

• Develop a framework and processes for a diagnostic tool to review curriculum, pedagogy, and assessments.

• Lead the design and development of training modules for master trainers on transforming curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment in alignment with the Universal Declaration of Balanced and Inclusive Education.

• Oversee the development of pedagogical frameworks and modules for translating the global guide and universal declaration on BIE for training government officials and institutions of member states in the aforementioned areas

• Prepare, present, and communicate high-quality executive reports for the USG SEED

• Assist with

the maintenance of SEED's institutional presence, including maintaining relationships with governmental, academic, and non-governmental organisations

Competencies

• Strong experience liaising with stakeholders such as government institutions, academia, research bodies, and teacher unions/federations

• Understanding of synergies, linkages, and interrelations among various subsystems in larger educational systems

• Demonstrated experience proactively co-designing ways to work with civil society in project, program, and initiative implementation

• Demonstrated experience leading the development of systemic diagnostic tools, modules, guidelines, frameworks, etc.

• Strong understanding of PISA and other assessment frameworks for the development of holistic systemic assessments

• Familiarity with and experience in working in the area of mother tongue education

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to draw clear, concise, and executable work plans and strong conceptual/transformative thinking skills with the ability to develop long-term strategies

• Ability to operate sensitively and effectively in a multicultural environment and deal with cross-cultural sensitivity

• Ability to work in a fast-paced new establishment, handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Language Requirements

Candidate must at least be fluent in English and Spanish ; Additional knowledge of one or more other official languages (Arabic, French) will be treated as an asset.
