Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa Regional IT Manager Jobs in SouthSudan
Reporting to the OSISA Senior Finance and Operations Manager, this position has the responsibility to oversee two staff in support of IT Operations, Telecommunications, and Network, Backend and CLOUD Server Operation.
This position is also responsible for promoting Information Systems standards and guidelines in compliance with Open Society Foundations IT Best Practices and Policies.
The Regional IT Manager has the responsibilities to advise, budget, implement, and execute Information Systems standards and projects for all OSISA offices.
Working with the Open Society Foundations-New York Systems Director, the Regional IT Manager develops Information Technology strategies and services that are consistent with the business goals of OSISA.
The incumbent will need to liaise with his/ her counterparts in New York as well as on the African continent.
Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership with the OSISA staff:
Constant scan of the technology environment and how its use would benefit OSISA.
Yearly analysis of costs and vendor relationships to insure the best costs and services for the organization.
Yearly strategic plan for OSISA technology: what should be replaced, renewed, rethought and a plan and costs to execute.
Close partnership and an understanding of the goals of OSISA and how to support those goals with technology.
Develop strong ties with other IT executives in the Foundations and our Grantee Partnerships to make sure that we are aligned with the industry.
Management of Staff:
Develop work plans and support plans to make the most of the staff available.
Develop hiring procedures and find sources for recruiting both fulltime staff and staff augmentation.
Manage relationships with outside staffing organizations to provide OSISA more flexibility in responding to urgent, or unexpected demands.
This may include outside desktop support, or outside networking engineering contractors, to provide emergency support,
perhaps to provide weekly additional support.
Utilize outside help when appropriate.
Develop training programs and staff development to improve the staff in technology areas.
Manage the on-call, vacation, time-off and Holiday schedules so that OSISA’s coverage is as close to 24/7 as you can make it.
User Support Operations:
Provide technical guidance, support and training to OSISA staff.
Implement desktop security strategy and user security awareness training.
Implement desktop support strategy to improve overall technical support efficiency and effectiveness for local and remote offices technical support operation.
Develop Scope of Work and manage outside consultant to provide user support services for other OSISA country offices.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills
Experience in managing end-to-end IT (servers, networks, A/V, and desktop).
Possess good oral and written communication skills and interface professionally with end users and management.
Technical understanding of systems, applications and networks.
Extensive knowledge implementing Information Technology security policy and structure in Microsoft Windows, Wired and Wireless Network Access Protection and Control.
Experience working with Microsoft Windows and Exchange Server.
Knowledge working with VMware server virtualization platform.
Knowledge implementing and supporting CLOUD application.
Experience working with Cisco networking and A/V equipment.
Knowledge supporting and troubleshooting VoIP technology.
Experience working with Polycom/Cisco video conference equipment and audio/video conference bridge technology.
Requirements
Related / IT Degree highly preferred and / or demonstrated advancement of further education.
At least 10+ years of experience in computing or related area with a focus on Microsoft Windows Operating System, Exchange application server and VMware Virtualization platform and Cisco networ
Microsoft Windows Server and other application server certification and VMware certification.
