1. OSIEA Grants Management Manager Vacancy in Kenya
OSIEA promotes vibrant and inclusive democracies in Eastern Africa. Founded in 2005, OSIEA plays an active role in encouraging informed dialogue about issues of public importance.
We promote democratic governance, justice, human rights, equality and non-discrimination, respect for rule of law and protection of rights of minorities.
We play a key role in amplifying the voices that promote open society ideals. We do this by supporting individuals, organizations, coalitions, and movements. We do this through grant-making, research, and advocacy. OSIEA works in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan and South Sudan.
The Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA) seeks to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position:
Manager – Grants Management
Reporting To: Executive Director
Overall job purpose: To play a central role in ensuring effective management of grant making process, build capacity and strengthen systems to improve grant making process and enhance integrity and accountability in grant making.
Key ResponsibilitiesGrants Management: Oversee and act as OSIEAs expert of the grant making process which includes grants applications, documentation and timely submission of grant reports: manage all consultancy contracts: ensure compliance with government regulations and OSIEA requirements on all grant applications; review grants proposals and supporting documents for Board and Directors office.
Training and capacity building: Prepare and deliver external trainings for OSIEA grantees on grants management and compliance: identify professional development and training opportunities for OSIEA staff in grants making: undertake internal trainings for OSIEA staff on grants management systems.
Project management: Co-ordinate programs in reviewing eligibility assessment of prospective grantees: ensure that the grants review and award process is in line with OSIEA grants policies and procedures: support programs in the review of financial internal audit reports. General management: Provide leadership for the Grants Unit; manage and coach staf f for improved performance; Grant policy making: Formulate and review grant policies and procedures; assist in managing fraud and implementing whistle blowing policy and protocol.
• Grant monitoring & evaluation: Design and execute grantee monitoring processes, including conducting assessments and site visits: collecting and analysing data, documenting results, identifying and discussing Implications: proactively interprete and assess grantee gaps, provide technical assistance as necessary.
Key Qualifications
• Advanced degree in a relevant field such as Accounting, Finance, Project Management and Business Administration. • Ten years work experience
• Understanding of current regional regulations related to grant making.
• Good understanding of accounting procedures and processes in the management of projects.
• Knowledge of grants management software and should possess information technology skills.
• Ability to design and implement effective workflow processes and procedures.
• Extraordinary initiative, creativity and capacity to think strategically
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people.
• Team spirit and respectful working and decision making style.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to pay At attention to detail.
• Integrity, diplomacy and professionalism will be essential.

2. OSIEA Programme Assistant (Learning and Assessment) Vacancy in Kenya
The Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA) seeks to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position:
Programme Assistant – Learning and Assessment
Reporting To: Director – Learning and Assessment
Overall Job Purpose: The Program Assistant will provide administrative and program support to the Learning and Assessment program.
Key Responsibilities
• Logistic Support: Provide logistic support to assigned program staf f. This includes: travel, drafting of correspondences and minutes taking.
• Meetings: Assist in preparation of meetings, conferences and seminars. Take a lead in planning for staf f retreats, and when assigned, assist in organizing the regional Board meetings.
• Finance: Track program spending, process bills, monthly credit card reports, and reimbursement requests.
• Learning: Assist and be a catalyst in ensuring organizational
learning: shared learning and engagement between programs, through designing content and facilitating regular all-staff trainings and reflection retreats
• Evaluation: Assist programs in achieving their ambitions towards evaluation of their work.
• Program Support: Take part in visits of partners and assist in preparing debriefing documents.
• Achievement: Assist in identifying exemplary practices to be celebrated in order to enhance the mission of the organization
Person Specifications
• Basic degree in a relevant held.
• Three four years' work experience in a similar field. • Proven commitment, passion and personal convictions to the protection of human rights

• Substantive knowledge of learning and assessment in the Eastern Africa context.

3. OSIEA Programme Officer (Democratic Governance and Rule of Law Program) Vacancy in Kenya
The Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA) seeks to recruit a suitable candidate for the following position:
Programme Officer – Democratic Governance and Rule of Law Program
Reporting To: Programme Manager – Democratic Governance and Rule of Law Program
Overall Job Purpose: The Programme Officers core duties will entail provision of technical support in identification and fostering of effective grant making relations in a dynamic, creative and committed manner with a focus on OSIEA’s democratic governance and rule of law programming in the Eastern Africa region.
The program officer will particularly focus on anti-corruption programming in the region.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide a bold vision for innovative work that will add value to the existing efforts in the region by identifying grant-making, operational, and advocacy strategies to advance democratic governance and the rule of in Eastern Africa, particularly in relation to anti-corruption.
• Collaborate within and beyond the program team, by building partnerships beyond OSIEA to develop knowledge content, identify emerging trends, and conduct strong field assessments employing a rights-based lens.
• Conduct relevant legal and policy analysis in the region for internal and external audiences.
• Support identification of capacity and institutional development opportunities in partner organizations (grantees).
• Support network/coalition/alliance building for joint advocacy with grantees and constituents targeting governments, donor agencies, service providers, and the general public.
• Oversee administrative duties within the program and supervision of consultants.
• Reporting and budget management (portfolio reviews, monitoring programme budget and expenditure etc.)
