Job Summary

Assists the Deputy/Chief Engineer in day to day operational activities. Supervises, performs and coordinates the installation and repair of all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure a safe and a well-maintained property.

Responsible for evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determining what installation or repair services need to be performed Ensures the safety of, and provides excellent service to, guests and employees.

Responsible for engineering operations and directs vendors and subcontractors.

Qualifications

Diploma in mechanical, electrical engineering or electrical maintenance.

Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing.

Skilled in the use of related tools, including hand and power tools.

Ability to Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff.

Good customer skills required.

Must have good communication skills.

Responsibilities

To ensure the effective running and maintenance of the air conditioning plant and the refrigeration equipment

To supervise the operation of the plant room, boiler room, mechanical and electrical works and the engineering controls

To ensure the smooth functioning of the generators and supply and storage of diesel

To periodically check and supervise the functioning of the gas bank, cylinder replacement and water storage

To maintain contact with all equipment suppliers for periodic and emergency servicing and repairs

To constantly check on the maintenance jobs in various areas and ensure their timely completion

To implement preventive maintenance schedules in all areas including guest rooms and ensure their timely completion

To supervise repairs in case of breakdowns and ensure their timely completion

To keep the Deputy/Chief Engineer informed

of the daily maintenance progress and performance of various machines

To officiate for the Deputy/Chief Engineer when required to do so

To co-ordinate with housekeeping for scheduled maintenance

To coordinate with food and beverage and other departments for maintenance of equipment and machinery

Co-ordinate the preparation of duty rosters and ensure all shift are manned in relation to amount of work

To ensure that at all time, all staff in the department are correctly and smartly dressed as per grooming standards.

To ensure safety regulations are followed before, during and after job completion.

To participate in any training/development schemes required by management

Participate in the hotel’s social responsibility programme

To follow the house rules and policies laid down by the management

To comply with company regulations as stipulated in staff handbook, regarding uniform, timekeeping and general conduct

Job Requirements

Required education: Diploma, Associate's degree

Required relevant work experience: 2 years

Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
