Job PurposeReporting to Office Administrative Assistant, the driver is to assist DRDIP to fulfill their mission of working for the project by providing safe driving support and general administration and logistical work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Abides by the Programme Vehicle Usage Policy as well as applicable Uganda travel laws;
Drive staff to and from different places as instructed in a safe and conscientious manner including attending to the phone while driving;
Correctly maintain the travel and maintenance logbook for your assigned vehicle;
Ensure sound mechanical condition and efficient use of vehicle. This entails ensuring that vehicle is serviced, clean and fueled always;
Files mechanical status reports for the vehicle;
Advises the Administration Officer on license, insurance and services items;
Ensure assigned vehicle is parked in a secure location always;
Ensure all occupants wear a seat belt
Maintain good personal hygiene;
Practice defensive driving;
Reports accidents to the Police and the Ministry’s Transport Officer;
Assist in collection and checking of documents from vendors and deliver and collect mail as instructed;
Perform any other duties assigned from time to time by the National (Regional) Coordinator
Qualification and Specification
Must possess minimum Uganda Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level)
Valid Driving Permit with the following classes; B,CM&DL
Competence test in driving
Minimum of 3-year experience
as driver with good driving record in Government or experience working as driver in World Bank Projects
Must be a team player with a positive attitude towards work and colleagues
