2. Office of the Director of Public Prosecution Senior Principal Librarian Jobs in Kenya
Requirements for Appointment
Served in the grade of Principal Librarian or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Private Sector for a minimum period of two (2) years;
A Bachelors degree in either Library Studies or Information Science or their equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
A Masters degree in Library Studies or Information Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Demonstrated professional and administrative competence in organizing an information center/ library;
Demonstrated a thorough understanding of the national goals and the ODPP goals, and the ability to translate them into the library function.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in Work performance and results; and
A Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
OR
Served in the grade of Principal Librarian or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Private Sector for a minimum period of two (2) years;
A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C or its equivalent qualification With at least a C in Mathematics, English and Kiswahili respectively;
A Diploma in library or Information Science or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
A Masters degree in Library Studies or Information Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Demonstrated professional and administrative competence in organizing an information centre/library;
Demonstrated a thorough understanding of the national goals and the ODPP goals, and the ability to translate these into the library function;
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in Work performance and results; and
A Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will head the library Services Section and he/she will be responsible to the Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions for the efficient and effective management of the Library Services Section.
Specifically duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-
Formulation, interpretation, and implementation of library and information policies and procedures;
Advising the DPP and heads of departments on all matters pertaining to the management of Library and information services;
Ensuring that library information services are in conformity with international standards;
Training and development,
supervising, and guiding of staff in the library and information services;
Planning and budgeting for the library and information services;
Ensuring implementation of any changes in internationally agreed code for information retrieval and dissemination;
Standardization of cataloguing, classification, indexing and dissemination of information;
Compiling of decided cases in liaison with other libraries;
Coordinating and implementation of work programs;
Creation, maintenance and operation of an online information management system for the library/center; and
Selection and acquisition of information and other research materials in consultation with professionals and researchers.
