Nyeri County Environmental Field Officer (Social Safeguards Liaison Officer) Jobs in Kenya



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in decision-making and advice on best practices in environmental and social safeguards management.

  • Representing the department in all county forums concerning the environment and social safeguards management.

  • Organizing sensitization and awareness creation meetings for environmental and natural resources.

  • Carrying out site visits to assess progress, deal with complaints, and raise environmental concerns as deemed necessary.

  • Stock taking of natural resources at the county as well as identification of significant, sensitive, and degraded sites for further planning.

  • Coordinating and proactively managing environmental activities and projects at the county.

  • Liaising with partners and stakeholders on environmental management within the sub-county.

  • Taking appropriate enforcement action in cases of non-compliance or breach of license/permit conditions within the county.

  • Assisting in screening for and reviewing ESIA, EIA, and EA reports within the county.

  • Performing any other duty that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen (attach ID).

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science Studies, Natural Resources Management, or
    a related field from a recognized institution.

  • Knowledge of computer studies. Knowledge of GIS will be an added advantage.

  • Be a member of and in good standing with EIK or any other relevant professional body.

  • Have at least Three (3) years of experience in the field of environmental management/education.

  • Be a registered Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Expert with the National Environmental Management Authority and accredited by a reputable and recognized agency and be in good standing.

  • Valid Practicing license issued by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
