Nunhems Ethiopia PLC, established in 2015, is the Ethiopian entity of BASF Vegetable Seeds and part of the German Group BASF. BASF has activities in the Chemicals, Agricultural Solutions, Performace Products, Functional Materials and Oil and Gas Sectors.

At BASF Vegetable Seeds we are dedicated to producing market-oriented vegetable varieties and seed products under the brand Nunhems and are committed to our customers.

Nunhems Ethiopia PLC is now recruiting a qualified and result oriented Accountant.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Accountant should have a bachelor's degree in area of finance and 2-4 years of experience in the field.

The Accountant should have a detailed understanding of Accounting Principles of GAAP/IFRS and be willing to exercise flexibility on timely delivery of Financial Reports.

Your responsibilities:

Prepare asset, liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information

Prepare payments on time.

Keep record of company Inventory and follow up.

Manage Fixed Asset Register and update semi-annually.

Update budgeted Cash planning monthly.

Act as point of contact in accounting for local tax function Prepare monthly and yearly tax returns and submit on time as per FDRE statutory tax period

Implement strong reporting method and follow up

of monthly or yearly taxes (VAT and Withholding tax and Corporate Tax).

Engage on any tax related issues of the company

Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information

Process and prepare month-end and year-end accounts close process

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Communicate with Manager and/or Director on work status and client issues that arise

Your place of work:

You will be based at the BASF Vegetable Seeds office at Lebu, Addis Ababa. Occasionally you will be required to travel to the BASF Vegetable Seeds production farm at Arerti.

Job Requirements

Your qualities:

Holding at least a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Finance, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Having work experience in a foreign company is considered a plus.

Be well familiar with Accounting software such as Peachtree or SAGE 50 Accounts.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is mandatory

Excellent written and spoken skill of English and Amharic language.

Possessing excellent coordination and communication skills.

Strong interest to learn, adapt and cope with any assignment.
