Job Description

    Roles & Responsibilities

  • The purpose of HR Coordinator is to implement delegated HR and Office Administration responsibilities.

    Generic responsibilities

  • Implement NRC’s HR systems and procedures at country and area level

  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies and the National labor law in all processes and procedures

  • Coordinate staff recruitment and exits, introductions, trainings, staff benefits schemes etc.

  • Train and develop HR team at each offices

  • Coordinate with relevant partners, suppliers, authorities, lawyers etc.

  • Prepare and submit periodic reports as appropriate

  • Train and support line managers in HR processes

  • Advice in personnel conflicts/processes when relevant

  • Ensure that staff records in all offices are up to date and filed appropriately

  • Ensure accuracy of staff salaries at country level or prepare staff salaries

    Specific responsibilities

  • Support Country & Area Management through sourcing and deploying qualified and experienced workforces through implementing effective and transparent recruitment and selection process

  • Ensuring onboarding and exit process

  • Ensure that professional recruitment practices are managed in a way that attracts and retains the highest caliber of candidates

  • Follow-up the administration activities in country office and area offices

  • HR administration with follow-up on contracts, payroll and leave

  • Ensure an appropriate implementation of NRC’s Duty of care policy

  • Ensure that staff are well managed by careful planning performance management, monitoring of contract end dates and potential gaps/development opportunities at all level. Develop a trainings and
    capacity building plan based on WDP (Work and Development Plan)

  • Report on a regular basis to the HR Manager on all HR matters to include training and development, recruitment, employee relations, headcount and employee engagement initiatives

  • Technically line manage HR Staffs in all field office ensuring a commitment to best practices and effective systems are in place

  • Implement NRC’s Induction (NRC WAY1 & WAY2) within the prescribed time

  • Liaise with the security, Duty of Care/Staff Care/ Staff representative teams to ensure that staff welfare, health and safety are maintained at as per NRC standards

  • Maintaining all Area Office staff records on HR systems /filing Tree and personnel files

  • Provide administrative support to ensure smooth operations

  • Take the lead in coordinating, facilitating and tracking trainings given to NRC Ethiopia staff

  • Work together with the HR Manager on development and review of policies and procedures; revision of country HR & Administration SoPs

  • Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor

    Job Requirements

    Generic professional competencies for this position

  • Minimum 4 years of experience from working as a HR coordinator in a humanitarian/recovery context

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Management, Law or related field is preferred.

  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

    Context related skills, knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of the context in Ethiopia

  • Knowledge of the local language

  • Experience with start-up, exit or similar operations

  • Familiar with the labor laws

  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is required.
