Norwegian Refugee Council Regional HR Adviser Jobs in Kenya
The Norwegian Refugee Council is looking for an experienced Human Resources professional to join the East Africa & Yemen Regional Office as Regional HR Adviser.
This position will provide strategic guidance and technical support to nine countries in the East Africa & Yemen Region, with particular focus on: Duty of Care, compliance, performance management, employee relations issues, capacity building, and succession planning.
The position will also conduct regular trainings and will be required to travel to the various countries in the region.
Job description
Provide strategic HR advice and technical support to the Country Offices in the region
Support and monitor compliance with the HR handbooks and NRC policies, and respective quality assurances, including control checks via travel to country offices
Contribute to the development of policies, strategies, tools and new approaches, with a focus on innovation and piloting
Ensure that best practices are identified, documented and disseminated both within the region and beyond
Provide capacity development across Country Offices in the region and the Regional Office
Conduct various trainings across the region on Performance Management, Duty of Care, Code of Conduct
Focal point for Duty of Care in the regional office and country offices
Conducting exit interviews and debriefing with staff and improve the retention of staff in the country programs and regional office
Support managers and country offices with handling employee relations issues and investigations

Qualifications
Minimum first level university/bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a senior HR Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to
the position’s responsibilities
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage with staff and managers at all levels
Experience and ability to conduct valuable training sessions to wide audiences
Proactive and motivated to provide timely and high quality support to staff and managers
Strong attention to detail
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Knowledge of the context in the East Africa/Yemen region
International work experience, advantageous

Handling insecure environments
We offer
Duty Station: Nairobi, Kenya
Travel: 20% travel within the East Africa & Yemen Region
Contract Duration: Until 31 December 2019 with possible extension depending on funding and performance
Salary/Benefits: Competitive compensation and benefits package
