The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit and non-governmental organization which provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.
NRC is working in Ethiopia in partnership with Ethiopian Government counterpart, the Administration for Refugees and Returnees Affairs (ARRA) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in providing humanitarian assistance, Education, Shelter, Food Security & Livelihood, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Child Protection for refugees as well as host community around refugee camps in Shire (Tigray), Dolo Ado, Asosa, Gambella and Jigjiga.
NRC Food Security strategies aim at developing self-reliance livelihoods interventions which was designed and implemented to strengthen refugee women’s and men’s productive capacities to achieve food and income security through a variety of economic activities longer-term self-sufficiency.
The purpose of the officer position is to assist with day-to-day implementation of the Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) Programme in the Shire region.
The Livelihoods and Food Security Project Officer is responsible for coordination of the Livelihoods and Food Security activities at Mai-Ayni/Adi-Harush/Hitsats/Shimelba Refugee Camp Office.
Job Description
Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, hand books, guidelines and donor requirements is maintained in program operation
Implement delegated CC project portfolio according to the plan of action
Prepare and produce periodical project progress reports as
required by the management
Ensure proper filing of documents
Ensure that project target beneficiaries are most in need, and services are properly delivered
Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
Coordinate the Food Security activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
Involve and inform communities and community leaders in and about the FSL project activities
Prepare the work break down of the annual operational plans into weekly, monthly and quarterly implementation plans
Coordinate with relevant partners
Ensure that submission of procurement plan and distribution of materials and equipment are timely performed in line with the existing procedures
Provide technical support to project team members & ensure opportunities are given to enhance their capacity
Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve quality program achievements.
Qualifications
Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Economics, Development Studies, Sociology, Business Administration, or related fields.
Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience
INGO experience in refugee camp settings is advantageous
Computer skill (Micro soft Office Package) is advantageous
