Job Purpose:NRT are the project proponents for the carbon project and are responsible for administering it and representing the carbon rights for several participating conservancies. Accordingly, we are looking for qualified candidates to fill the above position.
The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing monitoring and evaluation systems to track the performance and impact of organizational programs and projects. The role involves collecting, analysing and reporting data to asses whether objectives are being met to guide decision-making.
Key roles/Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for the monitoring strategies, policies, systems and programmes and their successful implementation.
Regularly monitor and track carbon-related activities and projects implemented within NRTconservancies.
Provide technical support to each of the programmes to monitor and evaluate the definedobjectives and specific success indicators and targets.
Design monitoring tools (surveys, focus groups etc.) and take lead in conducting baseline research and analysis.
Contribute to M&E methodologies and approaches in collaboration with the programmes heads and other stakeholders;
Oversee the collection of data related to carbon sequestration, emissions reduction, and other relevant metrics using appropriate methodologies.
Identify and formulate monitoring and evaluation findings, lessons learned and
recommendations to be integrated into management efforts, disseminated in learning events
and channeled into decision-making processes.
Ensure the quality and accuracy of data collected by implementing robust quality assurance and quality control measures.
Provide training and capacity-building support to field staff and partners on M&E methodologies,data collection techniques, and reporting standards.
Prepare comprehensive M&E reports on the progress, achievements, and challenges of carbon projects, ensuring timely submission to relevant stakeholders and donors.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and carbon buyers, to gather relevant data and ensure alignment with project objectives.
Desired Skills
and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any of the following disciplines – Social Sciences, Community Development, Project Management, Wildlife Management or any other relevant field;
Post-graduate qualification in monitoring and evaluation.
At least 5 years of practical experience in monitoring, evaluation and research work in the private
sector.
Understanding of relevant standards, protocols, and regulations governing carbon projects, such as Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) or Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) standards.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and carbon stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in project planning, monitoring and evaluation in a donor funded institution is highly desirable; and
Proficiency in data analysis tools.
Abilities and Skills:
Individual with experience in collecting data in remote rural areas.
Experience and skills in capacity building.
Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English and Swahili.
Self-motivated, self-organized, detail oriented and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting, with the ability to handle large datasets and use statistical software for analysis.
Knowledge management skills
Excellent data analysis and report writing skills; and
A team player with proven leadership qualities
