Purpose of the position: To fill an existing vacant post to teach Computer Science Education.
A junior lecturer/lecturer is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the institution, and to carry out activities to maintain and develop his/her professional career relevant to the profession or discipline in terms of research and community engagement
Minimum Requirements...
Lecturer: Relevant Masters degree, e.g. M.Ed in Computer Science Education or MSc in Computer Science and / Information Technology / Computer Applications Technology
Junior Lecturer: Relevant honours degree, e.g. BEdHons/BScHons with specialisation in Information Technology / Computer Applications Technology.
Initial teachers qualification with specialisation in Information Technology / Computer Applications Technology
SACE registration
Minimum 2 years’ applicable teaching experience in IT / CAT experience in in secondary schools.
Recommendations
Any teaching applicable experience in IT / CAT at tertiary education institutions.

Functional/technical competencies (knowledge and skills)
Advanced and in-depth content knowledge about IT / CAT as prescribed in CAPS
Advanced computer skills
A commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in students’ educational development and wellbeing.
A commitment to promote self-directed learning and blended learning as strategic priorities of the NWU.
Behavioural Competencies
Able to operate in a multi-lingual working environment
Able to operate in various modes of delivery (ODL and Contact)
Good communication skills
Good interpersonal Skills
Job Specification...
Responsibilities:
Teaching: Teaching of modules on contact and distance mode of delivery.
Research: Furthering of own qualifications and involvement in research in general (e.g. publish in accredited journals, presenting papers at conferences.
Be involved or initiate community projects/activities.
