Non-Profit Foundation Senior Agribusiness Development Expert – Africa Jobs in Kenya

Introduction

Our client is a Non-profit Foundation that help accelerate and scale up sustainable and inclusive business practices within mainstream international agricultural markets and driving sustainability.

Responsibilities

Collaboratively engage with businesses, identify their needs and offer assistance through data driven business analysis and business modelling.

Manage the field research, data collection, analysis and modelling and be responsible for high quality reporting to the businesses and other stakeholders such as financial partners.

Ensure that the business analysis and modelling is followed by a pilot project to reduce risks and costs and enhance business viability.

Be at the heart of identifying, designing and managing the provision of technical assistance, co-investments and de-risking that should lead to a solid proof of concept in the medium term (3-4 years).

To make sure that the proof of concept leads to large scale, long term blended finance for the inclusive and sustainable agribusiness activities.

Work with the innovative finance team of IDH on these deals alongside supply chain companies and financial institutions, as well as monitoring that relevant public good impact is created.

Qualifications

Must have over 10 years experience in consulting, agribusiness, investment or business development background;

A strong network in African Agribusiness and/or Agri-Finance;

Masters degree in

agricultural economics and supply chain management;

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel specifically);

Proven ability to establish strong relationships and build rapport with stakeholders and clients;

Familiarity with field research, data collection and analysis;

Experience with data management and business modelling;

Strong analytical and interpersonal skills;

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in English (essential) and French (preferable);

Knowledge and experience in collating and delivering effective presentations;

Knowledge of inclusive Value Chain Development with smallholder farmers in Africa;

Knowledge of critical sustainability challenges in agricultural value chains in Africa;

The ability to think conceptually around complex issues;

Experience in project management and leadership of teams;

Willingness to travel frequently to clients and work long hours to meet quality standards and deadlines;
