General Role:The Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Financial Accountant in ensuring that accounting functions are full met.
Job Responsibilities
Assist the Financial Accountant in his role as delegated
Relieve the Financial Accountant when on leave
Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and integrity of financial data
Prepare ledger accounts reconciliations and schedules
Maintain Cashbook
Prepare all payments
Work closely with the Loan Management and Payroll Software systems installers to ensure fast check and maintenance as necessary, identifying any areas of improvement
Work closely with the Management Accountant consultant
Ensure accounting discrepancies and irregularities are resolved within reasonable time
Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
Discuss with clients their loan statements including payments and outstanding loans, advising the client on the consequences of not paying
Member of the loans committee to evaluate, appraise and approve loans based on stated and agreeable factors
Disburse or Approve client loans in liaison with the MD
Ensure client loans repayment posting in the easybuz system
Register chattels in the absence of the office administrator
Assist the Loan Officers with client’s loan statements and take them through for thorough understanding
Prepare daily loan tracker reports
Keep the safe code combination
Make loan collections when required
Relieve the
Administration and HR officer when on leave
Keep custody of the Safe opening code details
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Accounting diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications and packages
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with a MFI.
