Job DescriptionBackground / General Description:Nia Foundation is an indigenous non-profit making organization established with a vision of aspiring to see a concerned society whereby less privileged community groups enjoy quality of life to the best of their potentials in spite of their different abilities, disabilities and gender.
It is lawfully operating under a renewed license by the Ethiopian Charities and Societies Agency registered as an Ethiopian Residents Charity Organization.
The Foundation is now engaged in the implementation of different projects on youth, Women and Children and sough to implement additional projects in pipeline.
One of the projects under second phase of implementation is on ‘Promoting Autism Friendly SRH Approaches’ in the capital city and deploys different strategies and a series of interventions to improve the SRH knowledge gap of and friendly SRH services for adolescents and youth with autism and related developmental disorders.
Relevant to the project at hand and other projects in stream line, Nia Foundation seeks qualified candidates for the vacant position of Educational Specialist and Coordinator
Job Description Plans and designs curricula for educational programs; researches and defines educational goals, objectives, and methodologies to meet program goals.
Evaluate individual student and determine training needs
Closely work with teachers and offer resources to support overcoming education barriers.
Oversee and record student status as per service plans.
Make timely briefings on investigations and incidents during school hours.
Manages and facilitates program activities, to include classes, trainings, conferences, seminars, and/or other special projects.
Ensures the proper usage and maintenance of materials and equipment relevant to unit and teaching activities
Develops and maintains records and databases on student and program activities, materials, equipment, and supplies.
Writes, edits, and coordinates development of course catalogs, promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to organizational programs.
Produce and submit reports as per program manager and supervisor’s directions.
May develop or participate in the development of funding proposals for the program.
Suggest on Government and agency partnerships and liaise between them.
Lead, identify, develop, implement and administer Joy Center Autism Education
Lead and contribute to Autism Educational Curriculum and
Lesson plan
Lead, participate in and contribute to internal and external training.
Take the role of team leader and supervise the education activities of joy center
Duration:
One year with possibility of extension based on performance
Job Requirements
First Degree or equivalent in Teaching, Educational Leadership, Educational Psychology, Curriculum Studies, or in other related fields obtained from recognized university/institution
Relevant experience of more than three years in the area of the duties and responsibilities stated
Very strong Communication and Interpersonal skills
Ability to manage and facilitate educational programs
Advanced writing and editorial skills
Records keeping and organization skills
Knowledge of academic and/or special needs education curricula
Program planning and implementation skills
Creativity: idea generation is very important
Resilience and flexibility: as the job is tough
Good IT and presentation skills
Ability to prioritize and plan effectively
Ability to work independently and produce excellent results
Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level,
Able to perform work independently in own field of specialization, equipped with knowledge and experience.

Proactively engage in expanding Joy center to other branches
Client Orientation, Helps colleagues work effectively with children and youth with autism in different contexts.
Adapts approaches and style when interacting with parents.
Regularly contributes insights and experiences to colleagues in the Division to help them achieve quality results.
Overcomes unexpected difficulties and challenges regarding educating children with Autism to produce desired outcomes.
Working Together, Maintains collaborative relationships with Teachers of joy and other Department.
Works effectively with diverse colleagues in Nia Foundation and other stake holders.
Communication and Knowledge sharing
Actively supports work improvement and/or organizational change by work to improve teachers in Nia foundation and Joy center.
Reports to program director and establish good working relationship with the ED and Management.
