Reporting to the Director of Missions, the position is responsible for ensuring effective chaplaincy services in MOHI; spiritual nurture and growth of children, pupils, students and staff; and providing counselling, spiritual and psychosocial support to them and their guardians/parents.
Also responsible for coordinating and managing outreach missions, activities, and other related events.

Duties and responsibilities
Strategic Management
Support the development and implementation of MOHI’s strategic plan with a focus on spiritual development and discipleship aspects.
Provide overall leadership and oversee spiritual development and discipleship activities.
Oversee the development and implementation of strategies that promote and integrate spiritual development and discipleship in all aspects of MOHI’s work and life.
Spearhead the development and periodic review of operational plans for effective implementation of spiritual development and discipleship programs.
Develop a systematic annual plan on spiritual development and discipleship activities for MOHI.
Ensure prudent management and use resources allocated for spiritual development and discipleship activities Chaplaincy Services
Overall responsibility for effective chaplaincy program and support in the entire organisation.
Provide spiritual and pastoral oversight throughout the organisation.
Ensure that MOHI program activities embrace holistic child development including spiritual development and protection of children in line with child protection policies and guidelines.
Organise and coordinate activities related to spiritual development and discipleship of children, pupils and students, and staff.
Develop and ensure implementation in all MOHI schools a mentoring program that supports the character formation of pupils and students at the different stages of their life in the school.
Work with the Departments and Institutions to develop a systematic discipleship programs that include devotions, bible study forums and materials, prayer days and forums, special meetings and retreats, Sunday services in the schools, vacation Bible Schools etc.
Review and approve materials used in the institutions for spiritual development and discipleship such as Bible study guides, assembly notes etc.
Provide pastoral support to children, pupils and students, and staff undergoing challenging situations such as bereavement, sicknesses, separations etc.
Participate in church ceremonies and ordinances.
Ensure that staff involved in chaplaincy services and counselling devote adequate time to personal study and preparation, and have opportunity for debriefing at least twice a year.
Coordinate the overall administrative responsibilities of the chaplaincy ministry.
Develop partnerships and liaise with other churches, para-church organisations and other institutions on areas that can strengthen chaplaincy services in MOHI.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Manage an effective counselling program for the schools and other institutions of MOHI.
Develop a program for follow-ups in schools and homes to access/monitor the development of children in MOHI care.
Organise a program for visiting sponsored children in boarding schools.
Provide support to family members in understanding the children needs and in
working out realistic functional goals for children.
Respond and conduct investigations into any reported cases of child abuse and child labour in target areas. .
Develop and implement case plans including reviews and evaluations.
Ensure MOHI has capacity to conduct basic counselling in its institution and that effective referral mechanisms for cases that need further attention exist.
Manage external counselling referral system.
Organize periodic training to enhance capacity of staff on basic counselling skills.
Organize and Coordinate Missions and Related Events
Coordinate the process of planning for missions and other related events to identified outreach areas and communities.
Provide relevant information to key parties to the mission for their involvement through prayer, and financial and material support.
Coordinate recruitment of missioners and volunteer workers for missions and related events such as medical camps and outreaches.
Coordinate the logistics for mission events which includes accommodation, meals, transport, permits and special meetings.
Manage any needed publicity for missions.
Organise and dedicate specific time of prayer and waiting upon God as part of the preparation.
Manage mission events and ensure that missions and outreach activities adhere to standards set by MOHI.
Undertake review of each mission event and provide feedback/input to the management for continuous improvement of the ministry.
Develop partnerships and liaise with other churches, para-church organisations and other institutions on matters that relate to missions such as follow-up and discipleship.
Coordinate and plan schedules and activities for visiting preachers and other missioners to MOHI.
Counselling and Psychosocial Support
Ensure that periodic reports are submitted to the Executive Director and Senior Management Team.
Develop and manage a system for monitoring spiritual and psychological issues that affect MOHI institutions and mechanism for timely response.
Undertake periodic internal evaluations of spiritual development, discipleship and outreach activities.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Christian/Pastoral Ministry, Theology, Missions and related studies. Professional training in counseling will be an added advantage.
Experience in Christian ministry and discipleship, pastoral roles and counseling very fundamental.
Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Must be a committed Christian.
Proven Management Skills
Strong leadership capabilities and strategic management abilities.
Strong writing and presentation skills
Strong analytical, communication, dynamic thinking skills and result oriented.
Excellent technological orientation and change management.
Must have good interpersonal relation and team orientation.
Must have initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work under intense pressure and multi-tasking.
