NFT Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Associate Jobs in Zambia

We are looking for a deeply attentive Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Associate to empower students living with hearing impairments to communicate effectively, access education and participate fully in society while respecting their unique communication preferences and needs.

Responsibilities

Conducting assessments to determine the specific communication and educational needs of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Developing and implementing individualized education or support plans to meet the unique needs of each person.

Offering expertise in various communication methods, including sign language, speech therapy, and assistive technology.

Advocating for the rights of individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and ensuring access to quality education and services.

Collaborating with educators to make classrooms more accessible, provide strategies for inclusive learning, and adapt curriculum materials.

Recommending and providing training on the use of assistive devices and technology that can enhance communication and independence.

Providing guidance and support to families in understanding and facilitating the development and communication of their deaf or hard-of-hearing family members.

Promoting cultural sensitivity and awareness of deaf culture and

the specific needs and challenges faced by this community.

Raising awareness about issues related to deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals and advocating for equal opportunities and accessibility.

Working with other professionals such as audiologists, speech therapists, and educators to ensure a holistic approach to supporting individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications/Requirements

Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Special Education or relevant field.

Computer literacy.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Flexibility and adaptability.
