Company Summary

The company has a team that is passionate about the environment, people and climate. They come from different countries and backgrounds. They decided to build the app to fight climate change and help smallholder farmers by planting trees.

They are building technology that brings unprecedented transparency, trust and efficiency into tree planting. Their product consists of a native Android mobile app written in Kotlin, backend written in TypeScrit, NestJS running on Google Cloud, and web written in React. They use GitHub, ZenHub, Miro, LinearB, SonarCloud, Slack and Basecamp to organise our work.

Job Summary

We have teams based in Kampala, Germany, and Indonesia. Our core development team is based in Kampala and has nine members. We are looking for an experienced Android developer that will bring focus on quality, stability and robustness into the team.

Key Deliverables

Build the app together with the Scrum team and make sure the app meets the highest quality standards.

Develop new functionalities based on user stories
Implement end to end automated tests

Define the internal architecture of the app
Support the app

Visit the app users and collect feedback from them

Qualifications

Relevant Degree in IT, Software

engineering or Computer science

Skills and Compentencies

Candidate should be an experienced Android developer with a minimum of 5 years work experience.

Excellent analytical and development skills.

Knowledge of best practices and you keep up with Modern Android Development (MAD) techniques.

Excellent understanding of Design Patterns, SOLID principles and know how to implement them.

Excellent understanding of MVVM architecture.

Candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of Kotlin, JetPack libraries (Room, Work Manager, Compose), and testing frameworks like Espresso, MockWebServer.

Experience building offline first Android applications.

Proven ability to apply these skills in your day to day work.

Able to write high quality, testable code.
International working experience is a plus.
