Our client is currently in need of a resource to fill the position of a Financial Controller, for Uganda. This is a highly strategic and senior role that will be directly reporting to the CEO of Uganda and Group.
Our Ideal Candidate must have the technical ability as well as the skill required for his job. The candidate must have high levels of integrity, be proactive, innovative, structured, and agile with very good commutation skills
Job Overview:
Financial Controller will be responsible for running the Uganda Finance Function and distributing the financial resources of a company, as well as the budget planning. This function will support the executive management team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the company through different reporting and forecasts.
Specific Role Responsibilities
Oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met
Monitoring the banking position on a routine basis.
Monitoring the supplier’s payment schedule in strict adherence to the terms and conditions with the suppliers.
To work as the custodian of the company’s documents as confidential.
Monthly management accounts (MMA) to the CEO/Directors on a timely monthly basis.
Monthly cash flows projections to the CEO/Directors on a timely monthly basis.
Assisting sales and procurement on all financial issues including credit appraisal of customers.
Address all accounting system issues in the IT office and escalate where necessary.
Introduce system checks wherever needed to safeguard company assets.
Monthly tonnage reports to the CEO/Directors on a monthly timely basis.
Transfer and closing of the month into the finance system in a monthly timely manner.
Preparation of timely Quarterly management accounts (QMA) to the CEO/Directors
Preparation of Annual Budget statements.
Auditing the accounts /books & filing of Final Income tax return as per the set timelines
Monitor and ensure stock accuracy.
Dealing with Statutory Audit/s regarding the concerned issues.
Take up any other assignment on instructions from the CEO.
Maintaining the financial health of the organization.
Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results, and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans
Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities
Requirements and skills
BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
Professional qualification ACCA/CPA.
MA degree in Finance would add an advantage.
Proven experience as a Financial Manager/ Controller.
Experience in the financial budgeting, reporting, and forecasting.
Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns.
Proficient user of finance software.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
Good relationship management and stakeholder engagement.
