NFT Consult Group Financial Accountant - Jobs in Kenya
The role reports to the Group Financial Controller.
The role will have no direct reports.
Interactions will be with Internal, external customers and auditors.
Key Accountabilities
Monthly Book Closure
Supervising and managing operating companies’ month end close processes in accordance with group timelines
Follow up the strict adherence to cut-off periods by operating companies
Follow up with country operations to ensure maintenance of the General Ledger and that all balances are accurate and complete
Take ownership of consolidated Book of Accounts, Review, sign-off and ensuring compliance, including monthly/ Quarterly /Annual closure as per IAS & IFRS standard.
Balance Sheet Reviews
Drive review of country operations month-end balance sheet reconciliation files;
Ensure accuracy of additions, disposals and depreciation for tangible and intangible assets as well as overseeing the annual verification of company assets
Ensure accuracy and completeness of CWIP aging
Ensure accuracy of operating countries’ inventories including coordination of periodic stock counts to identify variances in raw materials, spares and other stock items
Review of trade Debtors and Creditors aging including Identifying and formulating strategies to help drive Collections and Bad Debts performance as well as creditors’ management;
Oversee the completion of insurance renewals every year and coordination of forwarding of insurance claims and following up on payment per SLA
Responsible for inter-company reconciliations
Monitoring of daily/ weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and prompt resolution of aged reconciling items
Review of bank and inter-company loans balances including interest computations
Zero unexplained variance between FAR and GL
Zero uncapitalized CWIP for assets that are in use
Zero unexplained/ unadjusted stock variances
Zero trade debtors greater than that credit limit/ credit period
Treasury Management
Drive operating companies’ preparation of weekly 90-day cash flow forecasts
Foster operating companies regular monitoring and management of Working Capital & long-term funding needs
Review operating companies Bank reconciliations and flag big ticket/ aged items
cash flow forecasts
with >90% accuracy;
ST and LT funding linked to strategy
Daily Bank reconciliations
Procedures, Processes and Quality Assurance
Develop and implement financial control policies and procedures
Identify and provide short to medium term tactical direction in ensuring financial processes are implemented
Develop a review mechanism to ensure and measure compliance to relevant policies (Accounting policies, Shared services, SODA, etc)
Continuous improvement of financial procedures and controls by ensuring processes and procedures in place are updated regularly
Quality assurance of audit items by ensuring corrective action on any gaps on controls identified from internal audits are addressed
Ensuring request for approvals (RFA) for Capital Expenditure are done in accordance with SODA
Tax planning
Monthly review of all country tax accounts including year-end review of corporate and deferred tax accounts in liaison with external auditors
Develop internal tax policies e.g. Transfer Pricing Policy
Ensure compliance to local tax laws e.g. PAYE, WHT, VAT, Compensating Tax (Dividend), etc including payments and returns
Responsible for follow up on any tax claims
Any other responsibility assigned by management
Qualifications
Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s degree, CPA K/ ACCA
Added advantage: ERP Experience (SAP) , FMCG Experience, Tax experience
Experience
Minimum 7 years in financial accounting.
Experience working on ERP/ SAP.
Working knowledge of internal controls - specifically at manufacturing site level.
