Job Summary:

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, administers the operations of a store. Receives, verifies and sells merchandise.

Provides information to and assists customers. Prepares purchase requisitions. Maintains inventory. Maintains files and prepares reports.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and administers the operations of a store. Receive, identify and verify merchandise.
  • Maintains inventory and prepare purchase requisitions for the replacement of stock.
  • Makes claims with transport companies if delivered merchandise has been damaged.
  • Maintains files appropriate to the activities of the unit, such as invoices, order number, receiving date, shipping date, etc.
  • Prepares reports.
  • Verifies ledgers, statements and supporting documents.
  • Handles and stores merchandise or special products that require some knowledge of spontaneous combustion, toxicity, fragility, rapid deterioration, contamination, etc.
  • Controls and carries out the lending and renting of tools, equipment, furnishings, and devices. Ensures that they are kept in good condition and that they are repaired or replaced as necessary.
  • Oversees the delivery of merchandise following an established schedule and coordinates special deliveries by transmitting the necessary details to the persons concerned.

    Employment Standards

    Ability to:

  • Perform general storekeeping and warehouse duties; maintain accurate manual and computer records;
  • perform
    physical labor; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; drive a forklift; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.

    Knowledge of:

  • Modern warehouse procedures, including methods of proper and orderly storage and issuance of materials;
  • basic stock inventory procedures; requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, bills of lading,
    freight tags, and the use and meaning of each; computerized warehouse record keeping systems.

    Requirements

  • Experience working in a similar role.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing or walking on a consistent basis.
  • High levels of integrity required
